This started happening year before last. Never been a problem in the past. It will probably eventually end with me staying up late and giving the problem a permanent solution. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-13-144749-img_1313.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/07/full-13-144750-img_1314.jpg) Vegetable oil on the pole.

JP, I have shepherd hooks like yours, made them from #3 rebar. Coons shimmy them with ease. They got all the hummer juice last night, again. I put out a dozen rat bars, they eat them like candy, doesn’t fade them one bit. Guess a late night lead pill operation is what it will take to eliminate them.

Where did you get the metal hangers Can't remember where we got the curved hangers. We've had those for 20 years or so. The extended pole came from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010OLD0MY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. It's surprisingly heavy duty. Vegetable oil on the pole. Already tried that. Didn't work.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

We have coons dumping the seeds as mentioned. And deer come in the yard and help themselves but they are not as destructive as the coons. This has been the best hummer season we can remember!
