I appreciate the kind works from most of y’all. It means a ton! Ken, you got me thinking. I started posting on here when I was 15. It’s crazy how fast time has went. I’m about to turn 30 here in a few days.

You remember 14 years ago when I was doing those Sundays only tournaments (whopping three of them I think) and we had one at lewisville. If I remember correctly Jerry and Paulson with like 14 something pounds. And there were several bags over 14. Granted it was spring and the fish were in full spawn mode. I don't think those weights are around out there today.

And don't let ANYONE get you down. I may not have fished withed you in a bit, but we have shared plenty of time in a boat, and at least a hundred plus hours on a dock! You have been a good person from the day I met you. And I'm very glad I got to be a part of your life when you were just a kid!

Wife and I have fished with Anthony a time or two back when he had gotten his first boat but having trouble getting lake worthy. He simply loves catching crappie
and shares what techniques works for him when fishing with him or by his videos.
I love watching his videos when I have down time and SK's videos also.

I fished with Kid just last month in my boat; he fixed up my Livescope settings perfect, worked his tail off putting us on a boatload of fish, and dropped tons of invaluable knowledge of the lake we fished, the pattern and their behavior there. It was easily the best guide experience I have ever had.
I have learned quite a bit watching his and SK's videos as well. There are plenty of chest thumper and attention hound fisherman on Boobtube, but Kid is definitely not one of them, he has forgotten more about crappie fishing than most will ever put in the work to know in my opinion

All lakes are cyclic. Good years, bad years. I agree that Lewisville seems tougher this year. but I have found the fish in places that I have not normally fished because of it.
You have to constantly look for something that works today, not what worked last year or 3 years ago. My catches are smaller this year mainly because as I have gotten older (85) My energy level and "want to" has dropped considerably, I rarely fish over 3 hours at a time and try the easy stuff first. I rarely keep any fish, just like to feel the thump.

If you want to maximize your catch in the summer try live bait. More trouble and expense then I'm interested in.

Hint: The lake is teeming with tiny 1" long shad right now. We are using tiny 1.25" long Bobby Garland (Itty Bit swim'r) bodies on 1/32 oz jig heads with a #8 hook. Put a 1/8 oz split shot on your line about 8" above the jig.

Good Luck

You're a smart man......I don't use live bait but make changes with jigs to get bit..... It takes work to be on these fish consistently weather a fisherman want to hear it or not...... Fish for the fish not spots at the moment your in the water....

@JCBfromTHF I do know who he is and have watched his videos. Never once did i call him out or say he was the one that my post was about. So you need to chill out and quit assuming things that you don't know. He is not the only youtuber that makes post on Lake Lewisville. Anyhow there were no words pointed at him directly and all of you are coming after me defending him like i personally called him out. Slow your roll.

I remember them well! Those were some fun times. I don't think those bags are there these days from what I have seen. Trust me, I don't let it bother me. I've got enough on my plate as it is. Thanks big brother. We need to fish together soon!

I believe that lakes have good years and bad years. I also believe that if year after year the harvestable size crappie are 1 in 10 or 15 to non harvest size, the lake is being over harvested.
as far as minnows, I recently bought a seine net and seine boat ramps for minnows,,, too easy..
I throw out a little cat food, wait a minute, then do a pull.. average abt a dozen a pull.
its a nice way to cool off before heading out too. I wear fast dry swim shorts and no drawers. I may buy some fast dry nylon or silk drawers if I can find some... if u wear wet cotton drawers u can get swamp arse and chafe.!! also slip resistant swimming shoes. u can seine almost any ramp and catch minnows.. they are there to eat the algea that grows on it.
sand bars also hold plenty of minnows and shad..
I thought of getting a bait tank and srocking up on the minnows, but the minnow law in texas is not absolutely clear.. I spoke with a TPWD warden abt it, and he said I may have to prove I have a bait tank if I transport minnows back and forth from the lake to my home.. so I dont know, will they want to follow me home to see the bait tank? will a video do? its gotten quite silly.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Has nothing to do with YouTubers or attention whores.. It has everything to do with doubling the amount of crappie fisherman, with better electronics, while the size of the lake stays the same. Something has to give, and it's the crappie population.

I would say that about other lakes but Lewisville does not have a ton of people crappie fishing it outside of the bridges in the summer and the creeks in the spring/winter. Heck right now when the crappie are the easiest to catch out there, most guides chose to chase white bass because the crappie are too tough.

Lol, youtubers are not having any impact on fishing other than getting a bunch of kids off their ipads and onto the water. Fishing youtube is one of the coolest things to happen since they took the outdoor channel off standard cable.
