Haven’t been to a McDonalds in a long time but this morning the wife wanted to stop for breakfast. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and it rang up at $4.19. Went home and checked standard June 2022 McDonalds menu and it said $3.89. This was the Old Jacksonville Hwy location in Tyler and I know each franchise sets its own prices. Pissed me off because I prefer Braums which is 100 yds away and the same sandwich is $2.39.
I hope they got a good look at my butt on the way out

The only time I eat fast food is if we are on the road, it’s been quite some time since I’ve had any. I remember two sausage biscuits for two bucks, guess that’s over eh?

You must not eat out much. thats my vice since its "convenient" and I eat out often. Started out as little 10 cent increases....but I had my moment of clarity at taco bell last week! LMAO Chips and queso (I cant imagine those are costly to begin with) have always been .99 cents....they were $1.69 when I went a few days ago. Been cooking more the last 3 days....even baked a brisket yesterday and planning to fry up some tacos today with the leftover. So im still eating good...but that fast food is really out of hand now. Fast food and (some) restaurants are about the same price here in El Paso....so thats where ill spend my money when eating out...more local restaurants.
A client of mine works in the financial markets...he said something that ruined me. He said to think of the increases as a percentage versus "just 10 cents more" and when you think of it like that, inflation isnt at 8%....its at 10%PLUS at all fast food restaurants. Those chips and queso are 70% more expensive then they were within the last 12 months. I find it hard to believe chips and queso costs went up 70% but i really dont know. Just doesnt make sense...its not like they were at a loss selling them before.

Not only has the cost of cheese gone up, the price of every single item on the cost side of their income statement has gone up, gas to run the equipment, electricity, garbage pick up, labor, payroll taxes as that's a function of labor, co2 for the sodas, the sodas, the cups, the soap in the bathroom, it's on and on. Restraunts a d most business are used to certain items going up due to a market condition, crop failure, etc. The level of increases we are seeing across the board and the rate of increases are unprecedented in my 30 years in the business. 10 cents here or there isnt gonna get it done. Nobody is gonna work all day to lose money. The price is the price. I certainly respect each persons budget restraints and freedom of choice. We hate it, but it is what it is.

I haven’t responded to much of the inflation chatter, but our cost of living has been cut by about the same as chips and queso have gone up. That would be about 70%. Not 8.5%

Its getting out of hand. Especially if you are buying for a family. It also seems to me that the line between fast food and restaurant is shrinking. If its gonna cost $40+ to feed the family at a fast food joint... vs a cheeseburger at chilis... ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/06/full-102740-143106-d83ae6de_4cbc_406e_93a9_bd95ec833783.png)

I would add that all this shock and awe at restaurant prices is surprising. When you hear about inflation where do you people think it actually hits you? You dont buy from suppliers, you dont pay trucking companies, the restaurants, gas stations, retail stores, grocery stores are the cash registers for the entire system. When you hear the price of fertilizer has gone up, cattle feed, dead chickens, etc. That's gonna land somewhere and that is at the final cash register where you spend. It's not a hard concept.

You are probably right; I was just in sticker shock at paying more than $13 for two breakfast sandwiches and two senior coffees. At Braums the same thing costs about $8.
We have really changed our eating habits since the inflation has hit, mostly because I am retired and, having been self employed, our only income is Social Security plus whatever I occasionally pull out of our savings. Thank God when I was working I made pretty good money so my SS together with my wife's 50% is more than a lot of folks have to live on, but it is still tough and going to get worse

The only thing on McDonalds menu worth eating is the Egg McMuffin and Hashbrowns. Every thing else is hot garbage.
