I guess I should have gone out Saturday night, instead of going early Sunday morning. Shad were slim pickings but got enough to fish with. Population at Eagle Mountain that's big enough to fish with got hit really hard, the last couple winters. Most were 3 inchers, with zero big ones. Got set up on my first spot at 5.45, it was just barely getting light in the East. Didn't even get my second rod baited up, and the first one went down, a 3-4 lb blue. Went ahead and baited my second rod, dropped it, went to rebait my first rod, and the other went down. Another 3-4 lb blue. This went on for an hour and a half, before the bite slowed a little after 7. Never was able to get more than 3 rods out, and was always pulling one in. All were smaller blues, except for one tiny channel, and another that was around 5 lbs. Wasn't expecting to catch any big fish, so I just sat end enjoyed the non stop action. Don't know how many I caught but must have been nearly a couple dozen. Bite slowed way down as the sun broke out from behind the tree line, and fully brightened the sky. Only caught a couple more after that, so tried moving near the rip rap for channels, and nothing. Tried a long drift in medium deep water, and only managed another small blue. Called it a day before the heat, the jet skis, and the wake boat fools showed up. Home by 10:00 a.m.
Haven't been out much this year, trying to keep up with my side gig to pay for my enclosure, and I'll also be putting LiveScope on the boat too. Got most of it bought, just too hot to mess with putting it on.

Nice story and pics. This thread gave me the incentive to go night fishing as well. So this coming Friday night is my next trip. Head to G Dam and catch skipjack. Then make our way downstream to where the Paint Rock river enters the Tennessee River and set up. Or I may set up on the spot Steve Douglas did on one of his night trips here. The heat and humidity are more than unbearable. Even the catfish guides are asking clients to book night trips. Our spawn is almost over because the water heated up so fast in late May.
Birds of a feather, flock together.
