Here’s my solution to high gas prices.
1-Get your cat. Converter stolen from your truck, truck in shop for who knows how long 2-Own a boat 3-Have a couple buddies that have trucks but no boats 4-Invite said buddies to go fishing 5-They drive their trucks and provide the truck fuel 6-I provide the boat and boat gas and fish close to the ramp
Hey Mike, want to go fishing? Oh wait, you have a boat….

So this economy has me wondering if I like bass fishing and owning a boat as much as I previously thought I did! LOL
To take a day trip itll cost me about $80-90 round trip. If I wanna stay overnight add another $65 for a [censored] motel 6 room. so $80 for a day trip and $145 for a 2 day trip. Would these costs effect how often youd go fishing? they officially have for me I guess it would depend on your financial status and how bad you want to go fishing. I hear youre a baller...figure this inflation is probably a mild annoyance at worst for someone well off! LOL I was thinking of going tomorrow. That cost and the weather made me rethink this week. So.....how much would it have to cost to make HappyKamper stay home? Kamper is a wildman, there ain't no stopping him.

To offset costs I will be keeping and eating bass until prices go down, if I'm gonna spend 150 on gas I may as well get a meal outa the deal.

I don't like how much prices have gone up, but I'm not about to slow down doing the things I like to do. You only have a short time in this world. Money spent doing what makes you happy is money well spent.

That is a tough question, fortunately I can afford the higher gas prices but i do not like it at all, I can see where folks would struggle with this, I would probably plan my trips to where I could stay for 2-3 days, maybe camp out, definitely cook out, just make due with what you have, hopefully this will not last for a long period of time.

Fuel prices are just an annoyance. But, not much x2 is still not much. I have 5 lakes within 20-30 minutes of my house.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I bought a travel trailer and got an annual lot at Fork the end of last year. Costs me about $150 round trip for gas just to get there and home. Haven’t gotten to fish yet. My old Mercury kept giving me problems and once I thought I had it fixed, I took it out and lost a cylinder. I would have just replaced the boat from a 17.5 to a 20’ boat but now with the price of fuel, I think I may just buy a new 4 stroke and put on it so my expenses on fuel will always be affordable. I am sure prices will go back to normal but even then it would be expensive to drive a 200 or 250 every trip and if they get worse then it will be fewer trips. Kind of sucks that my options have really been taken away but I guess it could be worse if this had happened last year and I had already bought a bigger boat.

I’m just staying closer to home, fishing those lakes within 20 miles instead of 60+ miles away both days of the weekend. Not running around the lake with the hot foot pinned to the floor… but I’m still fishing 3 days a week.

I believe you are underestimating the costs actually.
I've decided to be very selective about when I go and what events I might attend. So yes it has affected my fishing.

It's 2.3 miles from my house to the boat storage. I have to drive by the boat ramp to get to it. I'm very much a fair weather fisherman living so close to the lake.

Not much water in my end of the world but I try to go several times each year anyway. After Paying storage for the boat and the Motorhome plus gas for each and lake permits I still try to be on the lake 20-30 days each summer. If things keep going up this will get almost as expensive as golf.

I am lucky that I have three lakes within 15 minutes of where I live and one of them is an idle only. I have twin 8 YO so my weekends are pretty booked most of the time and I do most of my fishing 1 to 2 days after work. The gas prices will not stop me. That being said, a me and a couple of buddies went off shore two weeks ago in his big center console. 5+ hour trip there and then left the marina with 430 gallons for a over night trip and came back in with 18 gallons. You do the math. On the flip side yellow fin tuna is $27 a lb and we got a whole lot of that.

I live right in the middle of some great lakes, all less than an hour away. This time of year it is usually an early trip, sun up until noon or a late trip, and as a result, I don't want to burn gas for a half day trip so those are being cut down. Luckily, I have a lake 10 minutes away, its not spectacular fishing but it is right there.
