I have not found an Alabama Fishing Forum on this site. Is there one?

My home lake use to be West Point back in the late 80’s through the early 2000’s. I wanted to go back and see if any of my good spots are still good.

This is the "T(exas)FF"

Maybe your fellow Alabamainas have a fishing forum you can seek some help or empathy from the same type of people.

What “type” of people? Bass fishermen?

We have local stuff but not like a forum that you have input on fishing stuff in general.
Oh we know how to fish, plenty of Elite Pro’s come from Alabama.
I just have found Neely Henry to be my Love to hate lake. It is beautiful with the lower end of the Appalachian mountains surrounding it. But it really is two lakes in one. The top portion above the Minnesota bend is totally different than south of it. Heck at times there is more than a 15’ difference in lake levels. You can fish in the flooded part or choose to fish in the drained out part. Yes, you actually go downhill in this lake at times, or uphill depends which way you are heading.

Not Neely Henry and even a different river system, but the best bass fishing week of my life was on Guntersville in April of 2010. We didn't catch any giants, but on five of six days our best five went over 22 pounds. The last day we fished we went a mile or so up from the state park ramp, found a hydrilla flat, and I caught fish averaging 3-3.5 pounds on almost every cast deadsticking a weightless fluke. Just fan casting around the boat and...thump. I don't remember all the places we fished, but Goose Pond, the creek north of Goose Pond, Siebold, Mink, the one south of Mink (I think it might be called Rice), they were all full of fish.

We had our only terrible day of the week on day one of the tournament. For two days we had about 30 pounds and finished outside the top 100.

I have to get back over there, maybe when I retire.

If style does not matter, take a bass minnow and hook it on a loose light line and let it run loose around a structure. You will catch. Nothing works better than natural.

The old saying, "If you are not catching, change how you are fishing".
