We are overrun with squirrels this spring. Any place I look there are a half dozen of the little jerks. They have been taunting the dogs, chewing on my awnings (trying to find a way into the attic I presume), the dogs seem to be attracted to their waste... which cannot be a good thing. So I have declared all out war. The problem being my war sucks. I take pop shots at them and miss. Using a pellet handgun like the one below. Its complicated by the environment, have to know your backstop if you miss, have to know where the body might end up if you have a hit, have to make sure no one is outside or nearby who might trip or become a cop caller, the things don't stay still for long so there is a lot to consider. Especially with all those other factors needing to be constantly assessed during the hunt. Any tips on how to more effectively wage my war? Other than stop missing shots? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-45051-140281-048948aa_1e5d_4107_b943_d7a97630db1e.__cr00300300_pt0_sx300_v1___.jpeg)

A rifle is SO much better. People gripe about the accuracy of break barrels, and I would assume there are better guns, but I seldom miss with my Benjamin .22. Works good on tree rats.

Rat Bait bars, kills everything in the hood besides the coons.
The coons think they're Twix bars and will eat a 10 pound bucket of them and then laugh at your game camera as they waddle off in search of their next free meal.

A rifle is SO much better. People gripe about the accuracy of break barrels, and I would assume there are better guns, but I seldom miss with my Benjamin .22. Works good on tree rats. I second this. Gamo Raptor Whisper, .177 caliber. I shoot a 10gr. dome pellet. After days of sighting in and trying different weights, the 10gr. is most accurate and consistent. Let me just say that if I made a notch in the stock of my Gamo for every squirrel, I would have no place left to make a notch. I had them well under control but I have seen 2 or 3 that are trying to gain entry into my eaves. They will soon make a bad mistake.

Get you a good Gamo pellet gun with a four power scope, I’ve killed hundreds of them here.

Live trap. Take them to garage and start the car with the door down. Squirrel-Shwitz.

I'd like to have something other than my 20 or 12 gauge to take out armadillos. What suggestions do y'all have in the one shot drop stealth department.

Bring them to my place- I’ve never seen a squirrel in the 4 years we’ve had this place-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Good eating with biscuits and gravy if you shoot them. Are the suburban ones good as country ones?
