Well not a lot has changed since my last report in April. It has still been pretty windy and that has a huge impact on our fishing. Everyone down here in Galveston is just waiting for the wind to lay so we can fish where we need to. Providing
Galveston fishing charters and fishing trips for a living can be tough when the weather doesn't cooperate. It's all part of fishing and you just have to use your experience and knowledge to your best ability.
Now getting that out the way, on the decent wind days we are still catching some really nice healthy speckled trout and a few red fish. I am still using live shrimp under a cork for my best results. The water temp is around 78-80 in most of the bays, which means I will being trying some live croaker soon. The fish I have been catching are still around rocks and shorelines, but I think the will start to move out to the open water soon. The two things that will trigger this is the water temp getting into the 80-85 range and the wind laying down under 15 mph.
I have also been catching some decent undersized fish on most outings. The action with the keeper fish and the borderline fish keeps my customers happy. I hope on my next report, the wind will have laid and I can give a little bit better report. Hope you are enjoying the reports. Until next time, I will see you on the water.
