If any of you are bird watchers I saw an unusual one up at Lake Meredith northeast of Amarillo yesterday. I was fishing out of my float tube and had a male loon swim up to me. They aren't very common down here since they normally stay up in places like Maine and New Hampshire. If you need to add one to your personal "list" he was there yesterday.

Are you sure it wasn’t a cormorant?

Weather has a lot of birds in areas they are not normally. We had a Least Bittern at our pond last week. Bird maps show their range ends about 75 miles from us.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I have "my" Summer Tanager back again. A beautiful red bird.

Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's an EMP!

I see red wing blackbirds a lot but had never taken a picture of one and noticed the actual colors of the red patch until yesterday

I've seen loons a number of times on Lake Bob Sandlin. Just checked and surprisingly, they are on the Lake Bob Sandlin State Park Birding Checklist.

Yep. My wife is from NH and I have seen a bunch of them on the lakes up that way. Loon. No doubt about it.

I've actually seen loons on our neighborhood pond. They were just making a rest stop though.

I put out a bird feeder on my patio this year and have really been enjoying it. Several regulars come in that I have never seen before - no idea what they are.

And since someone started a bird thread, what is the deal with hummingbirds this year? So far I have had a grand total of one. And he just bounced in one time and that's it. Is my sugar water not sweet enough or something?

I don’t believe I have ever seen one of those except pictures-
I’m envious, and hopeful-

Had these guys in our yard, in our trees, & on top of our 2 story house in San Antonio. Was fun watching them cross the street. They always came to a stop and looked both ways.

Haven't seen a Blue Bird in years until we bought this property. It's nest is in the post to the left.
