Ok - first off, I’m way out of my depth trying to explain this… and even further uncharted territory trying to fix it.

But here is the situation - I have year 2000 Mercury 150 xr6 outboard and the anchor bracket is broke - so the shift cable won’t stay attached appropriately since it’s not on the anchor bracket track. It seems odd that the bracket broke like that… but whatever.

Can I tighten the locknut so the cable stays attached?

Can I somehow rig the bracket for the short term?

Trying to get on the lake today. Thank you in advance for any advice. I’m trying to attach pics… again out of my depth… come to think of it I’m not really too good at anything. Haha

Sorry, I don't see a temp. fix in the forecast. Even if you removed it and tried some JB Weld or similar product I don't think it would hold long due to the small surface area you have to work with.

You can get one at Boats. Net for $56.56. https://www.boats.net/product/mercury/814283T6?ref=963ad529f11dc0cf62e9de82773ed9009a1bf841

Thanks TBird and thank you for your service to our nation.

What you said is basically in line with my buddy that is smarter than me…. So guess I’ll be back on here when I can’t get the new bracket in right! confused 3
