Its a stop along the way not a destination IMHO.

A five spot for a shot and a beer? And you wonder how we wound up here.

Only if its Christmas day and you need to shop for a gift because you've been at the deer lease all week.

If I go through Terrell I generally stop if I need something, they have a decent sliced brisket.

I would not go out of my way by more than 10 min to get to a Bucees

There is absolutely NOTHING at Bucees worth driving across the street for, let alone 4 hours round trip.

Iโ€™m a Buc-eeโ€™s zealot but I wouldnโ€™t drive 2 hours to go to one.

The bathrooms are a sight to behold and this pic doesnโ€™t even do them justice

Like someone else said, it's a stop while on a roadtrip. Not a destination. Kids and I like to stop and grab a few snacks. Kids like their t-shirts. Yeah, I spend too much their, but the kids like it.

I don't get it. It's a gas station.

Gas is almost 5 bucks a gallon. That would take a next level type of stupidity to drive 2 hours to a gas station.

NOPE! I don't even like to stop at them if they're on my route. Too much traffic getting on and off the highway just to pee.

The ones in north and east Texas have a decent selection of fishing apparel (shirts, hat, shoes, and sunglasses). Columbia, Huk (which I personally donโ€™t like), and Costa sunglasses. Havenโ€™t seen any tackle, though.

Iโ€™ll stop at Buccees if I pass one, but I wonโ€™t go out of my way for one.

When people make post like this. I can never figure out if they are joking or their elevator doesn't go all the way to the top. Why would someone drive 2 hours to go to a gas station?

Bucceeโ€s is good. Stop there if you go by one. Not a destination. I stop traveling around Texas. Always clean huge restrooms. Prices arenโ€™t cheap. They have a lot of stuff. Lots of selection. Beaver Nuggets are good.

However they did stop selling Diet Mountain Dew so I am concerned about them going Communist.

Not driving 2 hours just to elbow through a crowd of fat stinky women with greasy hair smelling like they have been camping or at the lake all weekend without bathing or even jumping into the water to rinse the stank off, on my way to the biggest bathroom you have ever seen.

Lord help you if you get caught behind one of those big girls trying samples at the fudge counter. You could end up getting left behind!

No chance.

I have one about 20 minutes from me and I donโ€™t go there unless itโ€™s on the way to where Iโ€™m headed and I need something.

I dont get the buccees hate. It's a magical place with interesting and delicious things. That said absolutely not. But I stop when I pass one. Alsups is a true s hole with the worlds worst and oldest coffee, terrible fountain drinks and bathrooms with out of order signs, no soap, paper towels, and p all over the place from the minute they open the place..... I think they have a rule about never cleaning or repairing the bathrooms. And the gut bombs are horrible.

I like them but closest one is an hour away in the wrong direction from anywhere I regularly go.

Buc-eeโ€™s has worked a tax deal with Caldwell County and announced they are going to replace the current Buc-eeโ€™s in Luling with what they say will be the largest convience store in the world.

Sometimes a nice little road trip is relaxing. Turn on some good music and sit back and enjoy the scenery. Stop at a good place to eat on way home and enjoy the day.

The problem with convenience store coffee is that it is set to the lowest common denominator, which is apparently people who don't really like the taste of coffee but want to be one of the cool kids drinking it anyway. It's colored water. They should make coffee for the rest of us and put a pitcher of water beside the pot for them so they can dilute theirs to the preferred weakness.

From what I've seen, they have the cheapest deer corn and ice.
Other than that, add at least $2 on top of the price for anything just because it came from Buc's.

They do have a pretty solid set of choices relating to rubs and sauces for cooking and the camping/cooking section always gets me for a few bucks!

I would not drive that far just to go but I do stop there when I have to stop somewhere.

The store in Ennis has non ethanol gas and I get some for the lawn equipment a couple times a year.
My daughter's house is about 12 miles down the road that Bucee's is adjacent to in Ennis.

ok, so what I'm hearing is don't go, it's simply a gas station..then several comments on why would I drive to a gas station (other posts have told me it's more than that maybe they were wrong)

then that I might be mentally ill for going there..or that my elevator might not be going to the top

was thinking they had unusual treats including brisket, which is not sold anywhere here that I'm aware of

so which is it TFF....Bucee's is just a gas station or more than that?

I prefer Buc-Ee's over the other stations around here. They have cheaper gas, best bathrooms, and a plethora of scenery to remove that worn out le syndrome from driving.

I'm lucky...I can get to of them in either route from my house so I usually base it off that.

Go, enjoy the drive, and enjoy what Buc-Ee's has to offer.

I was at Buckee's in New Braunfels last Tuesday morning filling up the boat and headed to Canyon lake and had a young woman come up asking for a ride. Not a looker but not a hag either. My head was on a pivot as I told her I did not give strangers a ride.
Watched her go approach another guy by himself as I was pumping gas. Filled up as fast as I could to get in the cab where my "buddy" was. Normally go in to go to the bathroom but that day I didn't take any chances and just waited until I got to the lake to relieve myself.

When they opened the one in Royse City, they offered a Buc-ees credit card that gave 20 cents off per gallon. Since they usually have the lowest prices around here, I got one of the cards, but I pay it off every month. After two years they dropped it to 10 cents per gallon and it was no longer the lowest priced gas but for me (I live about 7 miles from there and I go by there several times a week) it was still pretty good and they do sell alcohol free gas for boat and all my small engines so I still go there most times.

Just a two weeks ago they announced a new program that gives 5% off EVERYTHING in their store (was only gas before) if you use their card. So at $4.15 a gallon that drops it to $3.94 or about 20.75 cents a gallon so it is now pretty good again.

I would not drive out of my way to go to one but since I pass by there several times a week anyway, why not!

Think of it as a massive gas station, with a "mall of america" level snack store which also sell's soft and hardline merchandise

They have a selection of candied nuts that are seriously like crack, you have been warned. I wouldn't spend the money to drive there, but definitely stop if there is one one the way.

Today, we loaded the kids up and went to Bucees in Denton. I am 10 miles south. Kids loaded up on lots of special treats you can't find other places. I have mentioned here before that they discontinued the malt balls. It has been very difficult for me to forgive them, but I am trying to stay positive. I got some of their circus cookies to try. I also picked up sour cherries and cinnamon gummy bears.
Our Bucees has a giant section of Texas souvenirs. I wonder what the out of state Bucees will have.

Depends. If I needed a gift basket of candied nuts, a fire pit, some pickled okra, several pounds of jerky, 100lbs of ice, deer corn, a living room recliner in Realtree pattern, and a table lamp made out of a fake antler, I just might to nail it all in one trip.
