I put out my May fertilizer app yesterday morning after mowing. Didn't see much left this morning after the rain. Did it all get washed away and now I need to re-do it? Rain map shows we got 1.9 inches.

I always water mine in immediately if I know a hard rain is coming. Put mine out Saturday and got it watered in thankfully.
I bet you're good, especially if you have an established lawn.

You should be fine. Depending on the product some dissolve very quickly and you don't see any or much left. Some products use different fillers/binders that that don't dissolve well or at all and you will still see those left over. Nothing I would worry about.

Im ready to scrape my entire front yard and re-sod....
I can't win the battle on the crab grass.... Even after spot treating it with MSMA.
Small front yard 90' x 60' divided down the middle by a side walk to the front door. Have really good St Augustine that has taken over about 3/4 of one side of the yard, with Bermuda out towards the street on the other 1/4. St Augustine is winning the battle on that side and should be 100 % this year. Other side of the front yard is Bermuda and crab grass. One little patch of St Augustine is trying to get going.
Im at a loss at this point on even what to use for Weed and feed and fertilizer. One for bermuda kills St Augustine and vice versa. Nothing seems to kill the damn [censored] grass......
Been in this house 2 years, and its driving me crazy. Im ready to scrape it all and start over...

I would cater to the St Aug if that is what's growing the best. St. Aug will always talk over bermuda. I would make sure it is crab you're dealing with and not Dallis or Goose. But if you don't use a pre emergent religiously it will be a losing battle. MSMA on it's own isn't that great. It really needs to be mixed with another herbicide like Celsius or Quinclorac to work really well. St Aug weed and feed herbicide is Atrazine which is for broadleaf weeds, it won't do anything to grassy weeds. I saw a soil test from your area yesterday. They were critically low on Phosphorous and Potassium. Your best option for a fertilizer is a 13-13-13. Dillards out there should stock it. My nephew had St Aug installed a couple years ago. I have him applying 2lbs of 13-13-13 per 1000sq feet every month April-Oct. His runners avg at least 24-30" outward spread per year. Downside to St. Aug is you're limited on herbicides. Atrazine for broadleaf and Celsius for grassy weeds are your best friends.

At our first house my wife and I would simply get out in the yard and pull the crab grass and any other weeds by hand, do it in quarters or small sections a little at a time, you will be amazed - it works. In my opinion there is no spray or fertilizer better than this. Besides you can't keep the seeds from floating in on a windy day, especially with the winds we had this last month and now with all the rains it's all doing what god intended. Mother nature has a way to spread her seeds weather you want them or not.

If you do it after these rains, when the ground is still a bit soggy, itโs easier to do and you can get the roots.

You are better off pulling 100% of the weeds in a small area than 90% of the weeds all over the yard. Those little suckers that are left will spread their seeds very quickly in the disturbed ground. Also, a good preemergent program will help keep them from coming back next year.

Dallis is a perennial so it goes dormant just like your turf and comes right back in spring and spreads easy via seed. Crab dies off in winter and only comes back via seeds. It's going to take at least two apps of MSMA to kill it at the 2oz rate 30 days apart. Dallis also goes dormant in winter after bermuda. So once your bermuda goes dormant you can hammer the Dallis with Roundup. Prodiamine pre emergent has done a great job for me keeping Dallis from germinating and I am surrounded by Dallis.

Coming into May I'm looking pretty good. My goal was to have a nice looking lawn for around $200.00ish a year for 5k square feet. Looks like I'm going to be closer to $250-300 this year. That's all in. Fert, micros for color, herbicides, fungicides, etc. I spray most of my stuff and once I have my cost spread sheet finished, I'll update the total cost. Scott's diseaseEX and GrubEX add a lot to the total as a granular. I should and will spray the same product at some point, but the up front cost is expensive, but cost per app is a lot cheaper. $43 a month isn't too bad for 7 months. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/05/full-45545-346163-may_grass.jpg)

Been in this house 2 years, and its driving me crazy. Im ready to scrape it all and start over... Just hire a lawn care service to take of your weed and feed and fertilizing. I quit mowing and applying fertilizer years ago.

Was pretty proud of myself for getting the yard mowed and an application of fertilizer and GrubEX down just prior to the last good rain. Went out to the shed this morning and noticed the bag I poured the fertilizer out of read 0-0-7. Hmm, turns out I spread pre-emergent instead of fertilizer ![bang bang](/forums/images/graemlins/default/bang.gif) . No rain forecast for at least the next week, so I guess I'll spread the 13-13-13 I had intended to, and then run the sprinklers.

At least it's not as bad as my neighbor last year thinking he grabbed a bottle of weed killer and it was grass killer and hosed his whole yard down. ![eek eek](/forums/images/graemlins/default/eek.gif)
