What is hard about gaining access to Kurth? Just go to city of lufkin and get a pass.

For folks who work 8-5 M-F and live 2 hours from Lufkin, yes, it is a pain to get a pass. They stopped selling the 3-day passes at the Caretaker's house years ago. I used to be able to go there on Saturday morning and not have to take a day off to get a pass. When you turn 65, the cost for a yearly pass is drastically reduced, so I got one.

Pinkston is a no go for me ever again.

Pinkston's problem is that it has two boat launching areas, but neither is a true ramp. Just two clay sloping spots. True parking is lacking, too. I will be going back to Pinkston again, though.

I must have went at a good time then cause I didn't have any issues with the dam ramp nor the road getting to it with my 22 center console.
Quite honestly, I vote they keep it like it is. You put a nice pretty road through there and a 2 lane concrete ramp with docks and everything then it's gonna turn into what every small lake in Texas has.
Leave it like it, people feel more discouraged to drag their bass boats down the road and put them down that ramp. I don't have an issue with it. One of the best fishing lakes I've been to thus far

I could tell stories about Kurth for hours. I lived in Nacogdoches for about 15 years and starting in the early 2000's we'd go to Kurth every single day in the spring. Literally would see maybe 1 boat every 3-4 days. It's where we learned how to sight fish and flip grass. It was unbelievable what swam in that place back then. It was nothing to see a dozen 10+ in a day. I know of 4 over 13 caught in that time span we fished it, a 15+ found floating dead, and I can't count the 8+ we caught out of it. It's not even a shell of it's former self nowadays....
