Any updates on the crappie spawn around north texas lakes? Are they accessible from the bank right now? Was thinking of trying a lake near my house around the upper end that has a lot of Fallen trees and timber in the water and some aquatic vegetation near a creek channel? When I go should I fish with minnows or jigs and bring both?

No help here as I haven’t been out lately but go try and see. I would take both minnows and jigs. Good luck

When i was out 2 weeks ago they weren't quite up shallow on my lake. At least not in any numbers. I was catching them out a bit deeper staging and under docks as well. Best way to find out if they're there is go throw you a line in. If they aren't there you're still out of the house. I would start with a jig under a bobber and cover a little water first. If you find them then you can keep with that or switch to minnows. If you don't get anything on the jig then switch to minnows.
That's my $.02.

There are waves of spawners that are shallow at most lakes around now. I'm a jig and bobber guy, but minnows don't hurt. Especially after dark. That sounds like a good place to start looking

That's my $.02. Does your lake start with an A or W? I've been wondering about A. I know W typically runs late.

Has anyone fished at Purtis Creek lately? Haven't been out fishing for at least 2 months.

Has anyone fished at Purtis Creek lately? Haven't been out fishing for at least 2 months. I’ve been out on Purtis Creek a couple of times in the past month. Got skunked both times. I live five minutes away, but really don’t ever do any good. My wife and I go out in our kayaks for a nice paddle and pedal.

If I lived five minutes away I’d be saying the same thing. But seriously good luck to you

We went out midweek last week- everything we caught was in 2’-4’ ft of water. 10 to 1 preferred minnows.
