I wouldn’t doubt that at all. We were down there Monday and I looked at the lanes that they later blocked at Diablo. What you see in that picture is a blacktop transition with a lip of not more than an inch or two. There is no reason it still couldn’t be used. Hell we launch off the bank at Falcon, heaven forbid you launch on a rough blacktop ramp with some chunk rock.

My understanding is that Diablo will not close because it extends all the way to the river channel. This is second hand info and could be wrong. The person who passed this along got his info from the park ranger.

I fished there in 2013 at the lowest level it had been and I don't recall them blocking off part of Diablo

Lake has been lower than this before and still fished. Diablo ramp on side nearest bridge goes to the channel.

1998 lake was 62' low.
2013 lake was 65' low.

But as long as Mexico keeps pulling water, both those records above might be broken.

It's not the Mexicans that are taking the water.. They really don't own much in either lake..

The US is doing all the releasing..

But in retrospect is hard to believe that in the summer of 2010, Falcon was 9+ feet over full and Amistad was 7+ feet overfull.. And in two years they lowered Falcon 45 feet and Amistad 43 feet..

I understand part of their mission includes flood control.. But goodness..

Not sure about Amistad, but I'm pretty sure that Falcon at ten over had twice as much volume as the lake at pool..
