That is what happens when on fishes for Black Bass with a crank this time of year. Strong fish, freight train with scales.

Hybrids love cranks, wind blown points close to deep water, large flats , humps, ledges or break lines close to deep water, large bends in a river or creek to name a few. Throw bigger flukes or mid depth diving cranks, large spoons 5 inch sassy shad etc. One of the expert Hybrid catchers will chime in !!

I am not an expert by any means. Personally, I like to use the DC Mepps method, although I like to make my own spinners and use a bigger blade. (Size 4 or 5) What I have noticed about the hybrids is that they like the longer points that stick out into the main lake nearest the main creek channels. This is true on a couple of the lakes that I have primarily fished for them. I know that alot of people will tell you that live bait is the way to go for hybrids, I don’t prefer live bait at all. In fact, I have rarely been outfished by someone with live bait. One time I was fishing and a guy using live bait stopped by to ask me what I was using. Every time he drifted by, I had a fish on. I didn’t see him catch any. Another time, I was near two boats, each fishing solo with 6 poles down with live bait on and I heard them say to each other “I thought live bait always outfished artificial as long as you are willing to catch it.” @Reelslow, I would be willing to meet up with you sometime and go target them. I have never fished Bridgeport. But I have been wanting to make a trip down there. It’s actually the second closest hybrid lake to my house and I have yet to make a trip. Let me know. I would love to go.
