PS: Fished the Blue River in Oklahoma yesterday. Limited out as well. Trout were active with lots of trout caught using different techniques... bait finesse, fly fishing, bait fishing! Do check back, will get a trip video posted.

Quick Fishing Update | Oklahoma This Weekend

Quick update on this past weekend's fishing fun. Made the run to the Blue River in Oklahoma where we fished with Bait Finesse Gear and Ultralight Spinning Gear. Two fished; two limits taken!

But, was not just about fishing. Able to checkout the happenings at the OK State Fairgrounds - specifically, the Gun Show and the Backwoods and Outdoor Show.

Shout out to the folks we saw this weekend! Great meeting Kevin at Scotty's One Stop, Scott at the Gun Show, and the Official Fish Boss at the Backwoods and Outdoor Show!

TRWD Flyfest Big Trout Contest | Highlights Video

It was a fun time last Saturday at the 7th Annual TRWD Flyfest. We have not missed one since the first TRWD Flyfest in 2016!

A fly fishing event that offers fly fishing demos, fly tying classes, fly fishing seminars, and fly casting lessons. It also hosts a Big Trout Contest which is a Team favorite.

This year we were able post a livestream while we watched contestants compete. Although we missed Heat 4 and the final Fish Off to decided the contest winner, we did enjoy the fast paced action that Heats 1 - 3 provided.

Key items to note this round… fly fishing presentation and technique coupled with positioning where the fish are lurking made a difference in numbers of trout caught!

Here is a video short of yours truly trying to catch a trout or two after figuring out the pattern. Trout were wanting no retrieve, minimal movement... or a long pull and then hold while the fly sank. Used a Pat's Near Deere, and then a Pat's Rubber Legs.

Here is a simple but effective pattern to try... possibly for the first time fly tyer! Uses bead chain eyes and two plumes of marabou. Worked for Bass and Bluegill at the local pond!

While in New Orleans fished a local park... Louis Armstrong Park with the Tenkara Rod. Looked promising but had to call the trip short when the Park Ranger informed me there was no fishing in the Park. Bummer!

On the road last week, fishing light with minimal gear... a stick, a line, and a fly. Tenkara Fishing with the Marilyn Monroe Tenkara Fly. Fun times!

Getting ready for the warm weather fishing season. Time to start the Suzuki 2.5hp Outboard motor. After several pulls and a warm up period, starts with one pull! Just need to clean up the jon boat and rig jug lines, should be ready for the season!
