Was at the first gravel step with my son on Sunday morning. Fishing was very good from first light to about 8am, but then it shut off with just ~4 over the next couple of hours. Was wondering how the activity was up at the hole, but I think I'll continue to concentrate down stream until more rain comes.

The run seems to be just starting to turn on. Went out two times this in the last week and we have caught 2 mans both days. Fished Thursday and the bite was stupid, probably caught 100 just keeping 12+inch fish. Yesterday, caught another 2 man, but had to grind for them and weed through shorts. I would say out of those 100 maybe 10 were females. Hopefully the next few days the big girls start pushing in.

Had to share. Disclaimer!!! This fish is not from Denton Creek. Sniped a bunch of fish on Town Lake (Lady Bird Lake) in downtown Austin chasing the green ghost. Was covering water and saw many small wolfpacks of fish moving down the lake. Caught several sandbass in the 15.5"-16.5" range. Never caught sandbass on this lake before, but this was the first time i used livescope on the lake. This is the biggest sandbass I have ever caught. Heading home today, and will tey and scout the creek by the end of the week. I will add some video when I get back home. Take care all..

Back out there today. They are definitely running now. White and Chartreuse (ideally both via a sabiki rig) just above/below rapids.

I got out this evening for a bit got a limit in about 1.5 hours. They are running no doubt but man is it different than most years. You can go from nothing to a limit in an hour in about 50 yards.

Anyone live up around there that could tell us how much rain y'all got this morning? Im hoping enough to push the warm water to the lake to signal to the females to hightail it up creek but little enough that trails dry out by friday morning. Thats a very specific amount of precipitation, Im aware lol. Lots of hope in this post because I want my young kiddos to experience the craziness of peak spawn fishing.

How bad is the bank dropping down to the creek? My knees are not great, I can usually get by walking/hunting with occasional climbs into a deer stand without any braces/wraps but not sure about going up/down this bank. A 4 to 6 mile kayak trip from the ramp prolly wouldn't be good for them either. Possibly putting a kayak in under the 377 bridge would be better....

I have not made the walk down to the creek myself, but I did see a few people come down a very, very steep hill at one spot. That is not an incline I could see an elderly, unfit, or very large person make. Not even worth a try. Of course, that was only one spot. There do seem to be very few bank spots along the creek. I have made the kayak trip. Launching from underneath 377 is an option. It took me probably 20-30 minutes to get down to the light rapids/flowing water after heading west from underneath 377. I would not try this without a peddle kayak, but that's just me. Whatever you do, do not launch from the trophy club park ramp and then head west to 377 bridge-- this is the super long trip I warned about, this could take something like 2+ hours to go back and forth.

I must use a rope to go down slowly.

The high banks are not easy even for me. If it has rained much at all recently, all you will do is slide right off in the creek. As for the putting the yak in at 377, with the rain we have had, all you will do is get stuck. It really sucks but the best way is by boat or yak. From what I saw yesterday, I am not sure how much of either of those will help you with the tiny area the fish are in
