Is it necessary for me to get 100 amp hour batteries for a 36v trolling motor? In your opinion would 50 amp hour batteries work just fine for a normal weekend angler?

I thought 50ah would work for my 24v trolling motor. I was mistaken. Drained them after 6 hours of hard use. Going to 100ah.

From what I have read when you order the cheap ones, like I did, make sure it has a BMS (Battery Management System) of at least the amp hour rating of the battery. For example if it is a 100 amp hour battery the BMS should be at least 100 amps. You have to read the fine print to find this info as some of the 100 amp hour batteries have a 50 amp BMS.

Good catch! Hopefully nobody already ordered them for trolling motor purposes.

I looked the CHINS over and it is allowed to be in series up to 48v. These cost about $500ea with BT technology and low temp cutoff.

I've been running Ampowsure for a few months now and have no issues. Fished Twak TTO both prefishing and tourney day on less than 25%.I have 3 of their 100ah 12v in series with a Minn Kota 460 PCL charger. They do not have the BMS, but have the low and high cut off's, in series to 36v no issues. Made in Texas, haven't needed any support for them, but the owner is very responsive. PM me if you want more info or have questions, I'll gladly help out.

With these fuel prices we are all going to have to look at ways to lighten the load on the boat and our tow vehicles. Sitting here reading this I could see not only lithium batteries helping by boat fuel milage but my pickup as well; getting rid of towable weight.
On a side note: I checked the air pressure on my tires on my trailer and they were low by about 5 pounds, one really low about 25 pounds. I aired them all to 40 pounds so we'll see how that effects my towing milage. It should help noticeably based on previous experience.

Lol, I’ve read some things that are oxymoron, but this has got to be one of the best. Spend more on batteries, to save “money”…if someone is on a budget, they don’t need to be buying lithiums, they need the Walmart everstarts. Keep in mind, most will need a new charger also when they buy lithium’s.

I’ve read several reports of guys buying “Chin” Amazon batteries and having good results.
When you fuel milage drops by nearly half with $4 a gallon fuel you start looking at everything. I used to fish 3 days a week at one point in my life and would like to end on that note.
