I vehemently miss the good ole’ days……. Okie me too. I'm old enough to remember when having a 14 foot jon boat with a 9.9 or 9.8 horsepower motor was like having a 20 footer with a 250 horsepower motor because that was all there was. I saw the brush clamps and that took me back as well. Where I grew up those were used a lot, but you had to be careful or you'd hook yourself up to a wasp nest or a snake. Most guys had window weights for anchors which also doubled as your depth finder. A styrofoam or Coleman ice chest was your fish storage and food and drink storage as well. Nothing like drinking a coke that was fish flavored. We fished mostly with cane poles because dad's thing was panfish of any kind, catfish too. If we spent money for a fishing trip food had to be put on the table in exchange for what we spent. We also fished with nets back in the day our main quarry was the buffalo fish or carp, we'd fill the freezer with them. Nothing like deep fried buffalo ribs and hand cut french fries cooked over a camp fire with lard, with homemade hush puppies.

Probably from the 60s, pristine condition, would still work if you had a bulky 6 volt battery!

David Fritts still had them on his boat last year at Fork. It might explain his performance.

This thread really is a walk down memory lane. Brought back a lot of memories of my first depth finder, paper graph and first LED depth finder. Thanks for starting this thread. Here's one old Humminbird I made a clock of it. This one is metal and 100' depth. I have a 60' one that I plan to do the same with.

I always thought the round depth finder with the little red lights was the first one? Can't remember the brand though.

I think the Lowrance Flasher green box started it all at least in any quantity.

1959 was the first year When you've had to change a roll of paper in one of these then you're old.

1959 was the first year When you've had to change a roll of paper in one of these then you're old. For sure. I remember the then old guys bitching about how the paper burners were ruining fishing. All you had to do graph over them and get them, in their minds. They were that days version of our Randy Blauket. Every time he gets on his anti-technology rants, I always ask, "Did you use a paper graph when you started?" A few dozen posts later, and he still never answers.
