my son and i just got back from 3 !/2 days on Picachos and 3 days on el salto....we were in a group of 11 guys and several of us have been going down to these lakes for several years but I don't recall the fishing ever being better than it was this past week......Picachos was unbelievable for numbers and great for enjoyable fishing...,my son and I caught 562 bass in 3 1/2 days....lot of small fish but probably 50% were 2-4lb and biggest was 6.40 lbs..I'm not exaggerating when i say that almost every cast you were catching a fish or missing one.
.best baits for us were watermelon red zoom magnum trick worm on 5/16th shaky head and texas rigged senkos...color didn't matter..guys in our group caught a lot of fish on crankbaits and any color worm......our group caught 2991 bass in 3 1/2 days on Picachos...we stayed at Ron Speed's lodge and as usual the food, accomodations and guides were great....
put Picachos on your bucket list...it's a fun experience to catch this many fish and will get you warmed up for the big fish at El Salto......
.following are some pictures to give you an idea of what Picachos looks like.....I'll do another thread on El Salto...

Thats really not that bad! I gotta imagine food, lodging, flight from El paso to St. Clair isnt cheap. Same with a good guide since id try and go during a time when the fishings on fire and figure booking the guide for multiple days will be real pricey! Especially if inflation resets pricing at higher averages than we are seeing now. Not planning this for a while....but cant imagine guides will get cheaper in a couple/few years! LOL

Ive heard those trips are a blast too, and the all inclusive angle sounds good. thanks for the reply
