Just got back from Picachos late Saturday night.. We also stayed with Ron Speed and like the OP said you would be hard pressed to get better service with great eats, beverages, and all around hands on personal attention.. This was the fifth or sixth time I have been there.

We fished four full days, and truthfully you could have caught all the numbers you wanted. More than once we moved when catching small fish cast after cast.

Of the eight outings, I would rate two as good.. Three as exceptional.. And three as holy [censored] [censored] Batman!

On day three my partner and I caught 174 fish, with the big of the trip at 6.48 pounds.. But we caught a bunch of three to four pound fish that day. Both morning and evening that day were in the last category.

The last day we concentrated on deeper water looking for bigger fish. But we fished a lot of 15-20 foot water every day. And in the AM we caught fewer fish, but a few decent ones between four and five pounds.

That evening we headed to the back of a creek, which I did not want to do.. And we fished about fifteen minutes without a bite. And I told the guide lets go to another place.. So he trolling motored over a couple of nets and got us about another hundred yards toward the main lake. He was picking up the trolling motor when I got a bite and missed a fish.. I told him "One more cast.."

Of course I caught about a three pounder.. He took it off .. I cast back.. Caught another about the same.. My partner cast at the same spot and caught another one..

He tied the boat to a big rock on the bank and we sat in the same spot for an hour and a half and we caught 86 fish without moving the boat.

Funny thing being that if I hadn't gotten a bite on that last cast we would have driven right over those fish..

And that in a nutshell is Picachos.. The fish are everywhere.. But they ain't always biting everywhere.. But when you land on em it is Katie bar the door..

I highly recommend the Speed organization and if I can answer any questions for you give me a shout..

Beartraps pics are very accurate of the surroundings. It's a whole nother world..

That's reasonable for what you get.

Round trip from Austin TX to Mazatlan on American Airlines is right around $750, plus any extras you might want a la carte (seat choice, insurance, extra bag, etc.).

Free beer and margaritas alone would save a lot.
