For discussing ways to save on fuel but when we discuss individual policies that impact fuel, we have to keep in mind we are plumbers and teachers and construction workers, maybe doctors or lawyers as well but we aren’t energy production experts and I simply prefer to read about fishing here, not under-informed partisan nonsense.

Not my place to change anything here, just pointing out I personally prefer to read politics in politics websites.

Fuel prices nor War were a problem a couple of years ago. Not partisan nonsense when people will have to choose weather or not they can go to the lake on Saturdays or church on Sundays because of the price of fuel. This is a freedom loving American Army Vet who would have gladly died to keep this country safe and free if that was what was required of me. I am watching my beloved country being ran into the ground by socialist puppet who's family loyalty goes to the highest bidder. I am being told daily that I am wrong because of my skin color, where I was born, who I worship, and on and on. I am sick of being quiet! My loyalty is to God, to my family, and to what remains of my freedom not to any party or politician! This gas issue is 100% political and we better get our heads screwed on straight or we or our children will be doing what the Ukrainians are valiantly doing, fighting a tyrant for our freedom!

So far this week, $106 on Monday and another $80 today in my truck just taking care of my responsibilities. As Earl Pitts says..."Wake Up America!"

See you on the lake and have a great day!

You appear too invested in Something you have no control. And quite a few things stated as fact that arent.

Politics is a problem. The Under informed dont make the problem better.

Now I know it feels good to pretend you know the issues but regardless where you get your information, you likely dont. Then you spend your time, even your fishing time whining about something you cant control and as a result, I have to see political whining on my go to for fishing information.

Now keep calling your leaders names and pretending you know what you are talking about on a fishing forum, I will find another place.

I think the fuel prices will have a huge impact on the high school fishing in particular. Guys willing to volunteer their time and usually their gas to captain a team will likely become harder to find. People want to help but there are limits.

Will the cost increases in the petroleum market lead to mark up on new boats as well?

I believe it has had an affect in the past.

True story.......... Will certainly affect pre-fishing trips for us.

Last reply on this topic because I believe people want to be consumed by politics regardless of their lack of impact on it.

For me, I've decided to suspend tournament fishing until things calm back down. I donate enough to the winners, there's no need to self-inflict any more damage than necessary. roflmao

A couple of tips from the few times this has happened in the past:
1.) Install a locking gas/fuel cap, if you haven't already !!!
2.) Try to top off the tank every 3 days, try not to let it get below half a tank (with market pricing up and down, trending upwards until something drastic changes)
3.) As other's have already stated, get creative; slow down and draft when possible
4.) If not fishing a tournament, load the boat with friends that will all chip in; time for friendship
5.) Fish the closet mudhole you can find to feed the need
6.) Start adjusting priorities, the ripple effect is already on the way. Those that come out on the back side of this without being over their heads in debt, will see opportunities on luxury items they never thought they could have or afford (boats, houses, etc...)
7.) Use your head

Interesting observation over the last few weeks with all of this oil "shortage"; crude prices are up and down all over the place. When crude is trending up, the gas prices follow. However, crude has been on a downward trend for the last 2 days, but the gas prices are still climbing. Crude is publicly trading, gas/fuel pricing appear to be on predictions. Those "green" pumps always carry lasting effects.

Always entertaining on who jumps the rabbit, and who decides to follow. Truth be told, the current state of everything started long before 11/3/20. There are many things we all take for granted, and keeping our heads in the sand always leads us to be surprised at the results. There's no one side that's always going to be right, and the current environment is on the far ends of the spectrum, concerning views. In reality, The person that everyone "thinks" is the problem, is not actually the problem; the one that checked the box without understanding the long term effects, is the problem; 2020 was all about feelings, woo-a-woo feelings.

Straight from the horse's mouth, some scary stuff here if you dare (keep in mind, executive action can be rescinded, laws get amended):

This is a Texas fishing Forum We cant change our culture and love our lakes and fishing for that matter so I suggest you find another forum or you are just going to have to find some humor in what these folks say because that's how we cope with things like high gas prices ect.

You can say whatever you want but do not call a political clown on either side my leader! I have one leader, one Savior!!! Libs and the fantasy world they exist in and continue to defend, even as good people begin to suffer at their hands, are really something...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I've always stayed away from politics on this forum and still choose to, but when it comes down to where the rubber meets the road you have to decide in the voting booth whether you want more expensive foreign oil or our own domestic oil. As most of you know these higher oil prices aren't going to just affect how much it cost to fill up a tow vehicle and a boat but everything else that comes out of our back pockets as well. I just had a friend post pictures at the pump where he fueled up his 18-wheeler this morning. 277 gallons at around $1100 or roughly $3.97 a gallon. Here in Cooper, Texas I drove by a station where it is $5.00 a gallon. That same 277 gallons of diesel is now $1385. In order for him to make any money that extra cost is going to have to be tacked on to whatever he was hauling. It will affect everything from Bass Pro, to Walmart, to the grocery store as well as everything else that handles products that has to be transported.........

WOW!! when I asked for tips on fuel saving on truck and boats. I did not know I would step into the political arena. I agree with most that have written here. I will be fishing closer to home, using the ultrex more, slowing down in both truck and boat. Asking buddies to help with gas is a great idea. New bags of worms will be of great value and I will try to quit the 'impulse' buy on sparkling new baits. I am lucky as I have an aluminum boat with a 115 Mercury that does not use much fuel, plus I am an old guy that does not go fast any more.
Tournaments are NOT real important to me as they once were. I know some 'live' for that. I hope you can continue to follow that. I do fish the high school tournaments with two boys. They are learning the old man way to fish ( pick an area and fish it) .
Thank you all for the tips . Sorry this turned into a political platform.

wild bill --------------------------have to much fun fishing and playing with dogs!!!!!!
