What Ned jig head were you using? Looks like you were Texas rigging the Ned worm.

Yes, it was Texas Rigged to help reduce the hang ups on the rip-rap, but still got hung a decent amount. My dad was using a VMC Finesse Rugby Jig. Hookups were about the same through out the day between the 2 jig heads.

I've been wondering if a Texas rigged Ned jig head would work better for hook sets and weedless situations. The standard Ned jig heads have pretty small hooks. I lost a really good bass last Saturday evening because it was able to get off the small hook after a good fight. I had a smaller one get off the hook a few minutes later. Those lost fish have me rethinking my jig, rod and reel.

I lost a really good bass last Saturday evening because it was able to get off the small hook after a good fight. I had a smaller one get off the hook a few minutes later. Those lost fish have me rethinking my jig, rod and reel. I will say this, the fish I knew were hooked were not lost. I did not loose one fish that day. Dad lost one as you saw in the video. He had done that same technique a few other times and had not had a fish spit the hook. I get they are smaller fish in the big picture, but that larger EGW off set in my opinion is big enough to get in the lip and then go all the way through, but subtle enough to maintain the finesse approach of the ned rig. I have nothing bad to say about the hooks I used. Pinned the fish and they were done. I also was using a medium heavy rod with 15 LB braid with a 12LB floro leader, so when I "set" the hook, that hook nailed em and was pinned as there was not much give with the braid/floro. Not a good ned rig set up according to most ned/spinning finesse "rules" but it caught me fish! I realize I am no ned rig guru, but that was my experience that day.
