Fished Lavon on Friday. Not sure what to expect on the depth with all the warm weather this week. I fished Grapevine on Thursday afternoon and the main lake temp there was 57 degrees. Don't even understand this but Lavon was 47. How can there be that much difference between lakes in the same general area of the state? I'm sure someone can probably answer that. Anyway, we found fish right off the bat in 38' about midway along the dam. Started our drift and before we could get all the rods out..... ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/03/full-111082-130955-030422_lavon2.jpg) First fish, 33 pounds! We then went on to land over twenty five fish with 9 or 10 of them over twenty pounds. The 33 was the biggest of the day (other than the two that didn't make it into the boat). We kind of lost track but we're pretty sure we had around 350 pounds for the day. We had to leave around noon so I'm pretty sure we could've really tipped the scales if we could've stayed. The bite was so fast and furious that numerous times we had two or three fish on at a time. Needless to say there was some re-rigging going on! We also should've taken more pics but the adrenaline was kicking hard. It's days like this that keep you dreaming! I wanna thank my mentors again on here. Wouldn't be having days like this already without you guys! Most of our fish came on white perch (not crappie for you cajuns!) and gizzard shad. All big baits. We didn't down-size anything. We drifted south from the dam past the island. We didn't catch any past the island. Not sure how long this pattern is gonna hold out but it can't be long. Good luck to everyone who's still out there trying for the big bite!

Bravo!!!! Amazing that the temp was still down at 47F. Maybe the water feeding it is cooler? Maybe it's the depth?? Memories to last from a great trip like that. The smiles say it all, Geno. I bet someone is having to wash the slime out of the carpet in his nice fancy bass boat today!

Outstanding Geno! When you hit it just right like that the action is crazy! Glad you were able to get in on the deep bite one more time before it transitions to spring...

Thanks guys! It was great to get that deep bite once more. I have a feeling that might have been the last hurrah though before the shallow bite begins. It will be interesting to see what changes come this week. Trying to go Wednesday so we'll see. Good luck to you guys if you get to go out!

I think you're right Geno. The door is closing on the deep water bite. I'm traveling the next couple weeks. I will get a chance to get out next weekend but then I'm gone again all week. I'm betting by the 20th the shallow bite will be in full swing...

Iโm more shocked that you found 57 degree water on grapevine than I am about the 47 degree water on lavon. Most of our lake temps are probably barely starting to scratch the 50s at this point. Oftentimes we have short memories about these types of things, but just last week we had several days in the 30s, and it had been cold most of the time, I even wonder if itโs an electronics issue.

Yeah, I was too. I know there wasn't an electronics issue because I fished Sunday with El Gato in his boat on a different lake and we found water 58 degrees in the shallowest water we scanned which was 3 feet.
