No flag shouldn’t matter to them.

It will be fine.

But a black water house laying in the yard will freak them out and they won’t land on their houses.

No Martins here yet, but we have a lot of House Finch's on the feeders. Cute birds & they aggravate the pup. [Linked Image]

Reality. What a concept!

We had a pair yesterday.. But they did not stick around...

Bout two and a half weeks later than last year..

I wonder if the birds that flew early last year, traditionally fly early, and were the ones that froze to death..

Because we had replacements about this time last year .. And maybe these birds always come a little later?

Nothing here in Eastland County. The icicles on the martin house may be a factor....

Been trying to get them for 3 or 4 years. Had daily visitors last year but no nesters.

They are an old native to north America. Spend the other half of the year in the rain forest of south America 7000 miles away. Pretty much depend on people putting up houses since the old growth trees were cut. Once you know what they are you will know ...if they are nesting they will be chatting it up when you get near. Lake fork had some old dead hollow trees they called home. Most if not all have fallen.

Tractor Supply also. As long as you have some space with no trees close and water nearby. Otherwise they will move on to my crib. They don't land to drink .... little fighter jets.... they dive at the water and get a drink.... a true joy to host. A boat dock on a lake is ideal.
