Y’all think the FFS guys take this tactic to the California waters? There’s got to be some big ones still out there swimming. Do people in Cali not already have FFS? Yes but theirs says" This product is known to cause harm to big fish in the state of California " so they must not use it much.

I’m sure many have it, but they might not be using it like Milliken and JJ. Nobody (at least 1 didn’t) would have thought there were this many large fish in Ivie until the scopers all came along. Someone should put the world record bug on Jones FB page and maybe he’d move over to California.

Guides on Fork hate that a perch jerker caught it by accident. It drives some of them crazy.

To me Barry's fish should count hands down. No matter how this is twisted you can't separate it from the fact it WAS caught on an ARTIFICIAL LURE. Back in the 90's fishing for bass vertically with larger crappie jigs was something I'd do this time of year on Fork. Never caught a monster but I did get bit.

It was not caught on an artificial lure. Yes, it absolutely counts, but it was caught on live bait, not artificial.

Ive talked to a guy via facebook from swimbait groups. Hes a cali guy and so are his buddies. He says theyre good at keeping the lid on it because the spot burning is unreal there. Showed me a video of a DD being caught out of a pond and other big fish pics he'd never posted. So i believed him....he posted what looked like a 12+ just meat stack and it was dark but it looked like a basic and smaller community pond. He said that was normal 🤯

I think the minnow fishing takes away from it in most guys minds. thats the only thing ill "hate" on someone for...well wont hate, but its a different degree of respect. Live bait and fooling these fish into thinking a piece of metal/plastic is live bait/edible is a whole different level, for me at least. where was it caught and when? Never heard of either person No disrespect, you must not have any gray hair!!

Im probably jinxing myself...but semi Lebron'ing with my hairline, but still got it and only a few grays. they are coming in on the beard tho. Let me know if you want me to send headshots jk! Just never got into live bait. Guy just caught the state record blue cat out of El Paso....super impressive....but still live bait. I really think fooling a freshwater fish into hitting artificial is on a different level than live bait fishing. Not taking anything away, but in my personal opinion Ill always have a higher degree of respect for someone using artificials. Now with that said....if the guy was crappie fishing, well live bait is what you do for crappie...even today with all the crappie artificials. Impressive....but id be a little more impressed if it was on an artificial.

Is this the same Barry St. Clair that is a freelance writer and fish and wildlife biologist and has done work for TPWD for years?

But the Live sonar guys have for sure put it on a different level. I think that Ivie had 15 bass submitted over 13 pounds last year. As an example, 2010 produced 11, including a 16 pounder, and that was without live sonar. Should be plenty more caught soon when the spawn starts.

Has anyone ever caught a bass over 20 lbs that wasn’t on live bait other than George Perry ( and there’s a lot of doubt about if that one was real)? Most of the really big ones in a California were caught with crawdads. There was the one they called Dottie in Cali that would have shattered the world record but she was foul hooked. Think they were using a jig when she was caught.

I thought Barry caught a crappie and the bass ate the crappie on the way up?
