My wife and I finally made it to Texoma this week. Have been wanting to fish Texoma for a long time. We've had a blast the last couple of days catching so many fish we've lost count. Lots of 5 to 8 pound fish. Tuesday was a very windy day, and we caught lots of fish. My wife has a 9 lb 1 oz striper, I've yet to break 9. Hoping for some of those 15 pounders!

Today was dead calm, and we ended up using pilot assist to do our drifting. We found most of our fish drifting in 72 ft of water along the river channel, and my wife caught her biggest in the River channel in 83 ft of water. Fish have been stacked from the bottom all the way up to about 50 ft. Dead sticking with chartreuse flukes or glow with chartreuse tail have worked for us best. 1-1/2 oz heads. .3 to .5 mph using tarp or ipilot. I built a thumper right before making this trip, and we've tried it out, but actually we still prefer using the splasher. We've tried both at the same time and we've tried both independently, and for us, the splasher works best.

Thanks everyone for all the posts that helped put this dream into action!

Thanks!

Sounds like your having loads of fun. Our weather has been decent so you got lucky. Enjoy your trip, those stripers put up great fights.

5wtflyfisher: Perhaps I should have said 72 ft alongside the river channel. A screen pic from yesterday says a thousand words:

Wow well done, Carolina, and you understood my reports well cheers
It's a great day when your wife outfishes you what a good fish by your wife! smile

5wt, get the navionics app on your phone or tablet. It will show you the deeper depth and river channels areas. Its not good to give precise areas on the public forum, cuz many don't know how to DS and will come too close and scatter the fish. Boats should be 200 yds apart when DS. Or side by side sharing the same fish caller.

Today was our last day on Lake Texoma. It was a wonderful experience and we've had a great time. Wish it was closer to us!!

Today was a reminder of what a humbling experience fishing can be sometimes. After two totally calm days, we were expecting today would really be outstanding. It started off well, but became slower and fish smaller by the end of the day. My wife's 9-1 and my 8-12 from our first day stand as our PB's.

If you haven't fished Texoma, I'd highly recommend it. It was definitely worth the trip for us!

I started fishing Texoma 2 years ago and never looked back! It is an absolutely amazing lake not just for striper but for catfish, smallmouth and massive sandbass! I have to drive an hour each way but it’s worth it to me!
