Caney tomorrow, and it should be better for these guys, I'd be shocked if anyone zeros.
When I was fishing it regular it got extremely clear this time of year. It had schools of huge gizzard shad as well which would fatten up the LMB's quiet well.
At one time it was a 14-21 slot lake but they removed that a few years ago in favor of a 10 fish no length limit. This lake used to be highly pressured by the locals and I'm sure it still is, but it still should out produce D'arbonne and it should produce a DD fish or two, maybe more.

It kicked my butt on numerous occasions in the 70's and 80's. If Caney is really clear right now they may have to match the hatch to get bit. I'd have the biggest gizzard shad crankbait I could get tied on.

That lake is already well known and pounded to death. I've known about it for years.

There definitely were some surprises today most notably for me Ott DeFoe not catching a scoreable bass. Jacob Wheeler; the biggest stringer of his lifetime, and the icing on the cake, Randy Howell ripping a 10.11 out of Caney. It's back from the dead for sure. This is what it was before the grass carp were released. The thing that kept bugging me the most is the guys watching fish chase a lure on their live sonar gear and not having a follow up lure to throw at them. I'm sure some did but the folks I got to watch weren't. My two cents, they should have had some sort of weightless soft plastic rigged up to drop amongst the chasing fish as soon as they got the lure back to the boat these fish were stimulated to chase.
When I was fishing Caney on a weekly basis in its early days it looked pretty much like what Bussy Brake looks like now. It grew up thick in willows before it was completed. You could pull up on a point and throw almost anything and catch 20 or a lot more, bass on almost any lure you wanted to throw if you were on the right spot. Bussey being as new as it may fish this way, the only problem will be they can catch these fish all day long but every one of them will be just a little over a pound or right at it. I've also heard; but haven't confirmed, it has produced some DD fish already. The guys will find them if they are there. Tomorrow ought to be a day to remember for sure.
