They are catching some toads, that lake is about to get death by social media. That lake is already well known and pounded to death. I've known about it for years. But now the internet knows and that's like a death sentence Bet we'll see JJ & MillieDoosh there soon The locals hammer it to death and ABA host tournaments there as well as other lower level tournaments. It will have plenty of fish to catch but they'll be like Lake Fork Bass, WELL EDUCATED. I did some follow up on why LDWF removed the slot limit and found out through fishermen surveys they had done that this lake was nearly 100% catch and release by the folks that fish it regularly so they determined the slot wasn't needed. It will get hammered even harder now but the economy around Caney desperately needs the commerce that would generate. There is another lake just down Interstate 20 east of Monroe called Poverty Point and it was impounded within a few years of Caney. It should be producing fish like this as well. Bussey will probably be this good or better at some point. There is one more piece to Caney's puzzle that was affecting it as well and that was the fact that there were chicken houses in the natural drainage of this lake. The runoff from the chicken manure, which is usually spread on the local hay fields and pastures, adds a lot of nitrogen to the lake. Some of the chicken processing plants have gone out of business so I'm not sure if that is still going on.

Louisiana showing out this week for sure. What a wonderful tournament it turned out. If any you are planning to go fish these lakes I'd go during the middle of the week, Bussey Brake, and Caney will be beat to death by the locals. Louisiana is a lot different than Texas when it comes to fishing. Even though Louisiana has a much smaller population it may have ten times the fisherman Texas has: that may be exaggerating it a little, but they'll still have more people fishing per Capata, a lot more, but like Texas most everybody is a weekend warrior. The holes on Caney that Jacob Wheeler and Randy Howell caught their fish off of will probably be like the hottest duck hunting spot on public water on the weekends. If you aren't on it way before daylight you won't get to fish it peacefully and even if you are the first one there, you're probably going to have a ton of company so that will kill the peaceful part anyway. I'd been planning on going during the post spawn for a week so I could take my sister bluegill fishing on Caney, but I may step that up.

Boat ramps are already full at either of those places basically any decent weather day in the spring. They literally already see the same pressure as fork, etc. The only real worry is every Bobby Boucher in south la showing up with filet knives and empty coolers now.

My family had a camp on Caney and I pretty much lived there on the weekends for about 2 or 3 years when it was first impounded. I'd usually show up on Friday evening about the time everyone had spent the day fishing and were coming back to the boat ramp at the dam to load up to head home. I saw a lot of sad Bobby Boucher's when they rolled up and realized the game wardens were there checking livewells and ice chest. The ones they busted were usually over the creel limit and had mostly slot fish; it was a 14-21 lake then. The game wardens were there pretty much every weekend waiting at the boat ramp during peak fishing. I'm hoping they are doing this @ Bussey Brake.

Instead of a wall on our southern border, we need one on our eastern border. Them Cajuns have sharp arse fillet knives and spare blades. Constantly searching the webs for the latest sucker to type a look at me, “ lakes on fire†thread!
