It's a confidence thing IMO. I used to use them but have gotten away from them over the years. If the bite is that tough, I will probably be using minnows myself

I am limited by pedal power in my kayak, and don't have a secret stash of brush pile coordinates in my Humminbird. I hadn't planned on using them for my Go-To. I just figured if I am sittin' in my kayak and can't get any bites, I might as well try putting one of those nibbles on. Just another tool in the tool belt farmer

My approach to nibbles is this….A crappie that don’t want to bite won’t bite because of a nibble, and a crappie that will bite will bite without one. Some extra bites/fish are possible with them. And they’re handy for a few extra fish when you’re stuck at the same docks or spots where the fish just don’t like or bite minnows much at all and the bite dies. So don’t start with them. It will save you a little money in the long run at least.
