I put a zillion hours on my 90, it never failed to get me back. Not once ever did it see an easy day.

A friend of mine just purchased a boat in Florida that has a 2003 Mercury Racing 90hp 2 stroke. The problem is he can't find much info on what if anything makes this motor different from a regular Mercury 2 stroke 90hp motor. So what makes these motors different?
He did all the normal check out with an independent mechanic. It has good compression and is very clean. not a hi perf. motor.. plain 'ole production so nothing special and/or different than any other.. "salt water" is justa badge mainly.. may have a flushing connection tha regular motors don't hav..

sometimes, old 2 stroke mercs just have some extra [censored] in their britches....I have run them for 45 years and noted it more than a few times
