Skunked on Palestine Saturday, decided to go somewhere new today. Didn’t know anything about the lake, didn’t know where to launch. Decided on the way to go to far north end and use Lone Star Landing. Last minute decide to check out the bridge on US 155. After driving over the bridge and seeing how low the lake was, decided to launch here instead.

Marked a few spots for when the lake level comes back up. All of the coves like one above were only a foot or two deep and lifeless. Everyone was fishing the river channel. Boats flying by and not my kind of fishing. Tournament going on and when they all left it was much nicer on the water.

Only had two bites but both chunky... one on spinner bait and this one on crank bait.

I’ll be back.

Thanks for the report. When I fished above the HWY 259 bridge a few weeks ago I had to share the river channel with 5 power boats. It's a better place for kayak fishing when the water is warmer and the fish move shallow.
Did you happen to check the water temperature?
Did you try using anything orange or red?

Thanks for the info. You make it look so easy. Find the grass, Fish the grass. Catch the bass. I'm gearing up for a fishing club tournament on LOP in a couple weeks and wondering what to throw when the water gets below 50DegF. I'll definitely have a few red/orange colored crankbaits in the box. May be throwing a jerk bait some too. We launch at Tejas on the south end of the lake, so probably won't fish that far up north.
