Update I ended up buying a Triton TC17, straight up outboard motorboat. Planning to take it to Stubblefield this Saturday for it's maiden voyage and catch some fish. Correction - it appears Stubblefield is non-motorized boats only so will probably need to go around to Cagle Recreation Area.

Where are you seeing that Stubblefield is non-motorized boats only?

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

In regards to Stubblefield, the boat ramp is right up against the bridge before you go over it coming from the I-45 side where The Minnow Bucket is. Once you are on the water and if you go right under the bridge at Stubblefield, that direction takes you toward crappie. If you go right, that is white bass. Both species can be found both ways but that is what I have found to be the situation over the years.

If you launch from Cagle Park you can take the small paddle/peddle to the bridge, Baker's Bridge, and fish under there. That will give you crappie. Get there well before dawn if you want a pile-on to sit by. The boaters get there bright and early.
