I owned a Nitro a couple of decades ago and it was a pretty decent boat for its day. I bought it new and fished out of it for 5 years and had zero issues. It was kept indoors and to my standards so when it was sold it was better than new.
At one point during the great boat search to get this Skeeter I have now I was seriously considering another brand new Nitro. I follow the FB pages of almost every major player in the bass boat world and what came out about Nitro on their own FB pages wasn't good. The biggest issue was the trailers, mainly breaking in half at the rear cross member right behind the keel roller, I saw quite a few of those. The bunks on the trailers weren't lasting very long either and were needing replaced in less than 5 years; I don't know what kind of storage situation these rigs had so that could have been attributed to being left outside but also obviously they were made from untreated wood or they would have lasted longer. Also various cracks in and around the winch post area as well. The trailer problems could mostly be corrected if they'd get away from the tubular steel design and go to the channel iron like everybody else uses.
I've seen hull delamination in almost every major brand on social media but Nitro seemed to lead the pack in that area by far.
I love the layout; the comfort, and the ride of these boats. I took a test ride in a Z20 last year. If they'd get their act together I'd own one.

Bunk issue is probably due to storing wet indoors and them not drying out.

I doubt the resale of a Nitro will ever be as good as some of the other brands of boats.......I buy a boat to make sure resale will be good. Nitro's do not have that reputation.

I rode in a 2021 Z21 for 2 days on Lake Champlain this last August. 70+ mph, rode as well as any boat I've been in, and over the last 2 years I have ridden in them all. Falcon, Ballistic, Bass Cat ,Nitro, Triton, Ranger, Skeeter, Bullet, Lund, Phoenix, Vexus, and Caymus. The one that stands out for quality(this should start something) is without a doubt the Phoenix. The boat that rode the least comfortable was the Bass Cat. The rest were relatively smooth riding. Just my 2 cents.

IMO, the current Nitros are every bit as good as the other top brands going now. 10-15 years ago is a different story but they have come a long way since then. I'm a Skeeter guy but have 3 friends with Nitros that I fish out of all the time and all are nice boats, fish well and handle big water. Any boat that is not taken care of properly will not perform well over time. As stated before, they are basically the same boat as a Ranger or Triton at this point. I will give you if you're going to Bass Pro for anything with it, their customer service sux.

A friend of mine has one and I have helped him work on it for several different things and compared to other brands of boats I have helped worked on,,,they are terrible. I would never own one.

Skeeter had the same trailer problems, it was tube trailers made with cheap lower gauge steel that wasn't dipped to prevent corrosion.

Basscat has been that way since I can remember, they are well built product but rigid, making air ride seats an option like Vexus has would be in their best interest.

Must not be a new one, the wiring, layouts, etc are very nice. Sure are some nicer- yes, but at what price, you get more for your money with a Nitro than any other boat- the only other boat that equals it on value is a zxr skeeter IMO.

Z19. His trailer broke a spring pulling into the ramp at a weeknight tourney when it was 6 months old. Forgot about that. Haha. EZExploader trailer. He spent the next three hours fishing while a mobile welder rigged his trailer to get home.

Basscat? They do plenty of wonky things- then explain it away, not to mention the 90s called and want their styling back. There are plenty of boats as nice as a bass cat if you want to spend that kind of money

I think you are correct. Everyone should buy the boat they want and be happy with it. It’s weird how guys judge each other based on their boat.

I’m simply saying BassCat builds a very high quality boat and Nitro doesn’t build to that same standard. To each their own.
