Hi all, I'm new here. I'm a retired chief of a small Oklahoma police department. My wife and I travel to SW Louisiana to visit her family every year. This year we decided we wanted to book a party boat fishing trip out of Galveston. One that goes 20 or more miles off-shore and fishes around the rigs. Do you guys have any recommendations? We're going during the 3rd week in May. I checked out this Williams Party boat outfit, but they don't start till later.
Appreciate any feedback...aj

GPB is only running 30 hr tuna trips in May. Sorry. They start running regular 12 hr trips on June 1st. Go here for info: https://www.galvestonpartyboatsinc.com/ . You can book online in the Booking section and see all the upcoming trips.

Book early and reserve a stern seat. They have a piece of structure market that they are fishing over, and the stern of the boat is generally situated closest because of the way they position the anchors. Every time I've been the most and biggest fish are caught on the stern.

While the stern can be nice at times, it's not a guarantee. I've seen the biggest fish come in near the bow, many times. The stern is needed if you are drifting baits for surface fish though.
