If it helps one father and son have a better trip together, I'm glad I could help.
My dad just turned 80 a couple of weeks ago and he told me he didn't think he would be able to go out bass fishing again. That's was a tough conversation after fishing together for 50 years. Enjoy those trips with you son.

Info John gave was spot on. We were on Falcon for 3 and a half days. Weather when we got there Thursday afternoon was around 85 degrees and we fished a couple of hours that afternoon in shorts and t shirts. Overnight temps dropped into the 40's and water temps dropped the three days we were there. Caught a few but water level is crazy low on Falcon right now. Packed up and drove to Choke. As we were pulling in a guide was pulling out around 2 pm Monday, Jan 10th. He said he had fished all morning and had two dink bites. Also said water temps were in the low 70's two weeks before we got to Choke. Water temps were in the high 50's Monday and Tuesday. I caught two small ones in the three hours we fished Monday afternoon and my partner zeroed. Caught 6 the next day and partner caught 4. Nothing over 3 pounds. Lots of grass and a very cool lake. Just bad timing. Will def be back when the weather stabilizes a few days in a row. Choke Canyon Lodge is a very nice place to stay by the way. On fire? Not for us.
