I would jump on Tbirds trolling motor deal, or call a Trolling Motor repair shop and see if thay have any used units for sale. If they do it might come with a 30-60 warranty if they did the work. Eh no, going to buy new, I already have a used Tour. Just wanting reviews on the Tour and Fortrex or any other non gps trollers currently out there. As the OP says not interested in spot lock, I refuse to pay more for a trolling motor than I did my first boat and no that wasn't decades ago that was 2003.

Go with the fortrex and buy the updated bushings for when it comes time to replace them. Fortrex has been out forever and is proven, unlike the new Tour. (I’d still bite the bullet and go with a spot locker)

fortrex 80 used can be had for decent prices, keep checking the classifieds on here and bbc.
have had both brands, minn kota is my go to for non spot lock, no shafts that bend and a whole lot less problems than I had with the motor guide.
had both the 80# fortrex and 112, either moved my champion 202 with ease. had the 80 on a champion 184 and it would do about 4.5 mph on wfo.
if you want new I would start calling marine dealers and looking for one, there are probably some still available with all the new spot lock models being swapped out.

I think the new motorguide tour is actually a composite shaft like minn kota, i've asked around and looked online and getting review on one is near impossible, theres plenty of reviews on the tour pro and 90% of them are negative, the spot lock seems to go haywire on most and they don't have the chips to fix them.

You can find clean 24v and 36v Fortrex tm's on marketplace all the time for between $3-500.

Just purchased one yesterday....was going to go with the remote stow and deploy, but too many people having issues so got one at bass pro..
1700 Ipilot saltwater "because texas water is corrosive" power drive....good luck, the only thing I know is spot lock is a GAME CHANGER, you'll be sorry buying one without.

I bought an Ulterra about 1.5 years ago. No trouble at all. I LOVE the auto deploy. It’s really saved my back and sure makes fishing easier on me. Takes the work out of it. No brainer on the spot lock, I can’t believe anyone makes an option without it except for a kayak model. I had a Motor Guide XI5 on my last boat. Only went with the MinnKota due the auto deploy.
I bought a $99 MinnKota to build a splasher out of but won’t own a non spot lock again for the primary trolling motor.

Like the guys earlier said. You will never regret spot lock / anchor whatever you want to call it. There’s nothing to learn. It’s on or off.
The most enjoyable time I’ve had with my anchor was trading stock on my phone in the middle of the lake. With the wind kicking i would have been a mile away from where I started.
