I had a totally restored 84 CJ 5 that burned up. Had 33's on it, warn winch, corbo buckets, Chevy vortec, th350 transmission, Dakota digital gauges. Had it stored beside my garage under a tarp. No battery in it. Came home from fishing one day and the gate to the property was open and the fire dept. was there. Jeep totally destroyed, Only saved the Warn winch. Never figured out what caused the fire. No way into the property except thru the gate and the neighbor who lived in the front of me saw the flames and called the fire dept. I'd like to get another Jeep, newer model, just to run around in fishing...but boy they sure are pricey...:)

I drive different ones every day:
Nothing but a money pit.
Noisy.
Very little technology, though you pay thru the nose for them.
Prone to front end ‘death wobble’.
Don’t touch the inside of the roof during a Texas summer, you’ll burn you hand!
Lousy mileage.
Get ready for electrical gremlins.
Easy to break into.
Lifted, prone to rollover.
Decent re-sale value.
hmmm

I have a neighbor with an old green Sahara in her basement with 7,000 miles. It looks perfect with a straight 6 and five speed. She won't even talk about selling the darn thing. I refuse to pay what they bring. But, me and the Mrs want one for our "around town" ride.

I had a CJ5 years ago. It was fun for short distances or off road. It was a handful to drive. Had to be careful to not swap ends. In wet weather with water on the road better to not be driving it.

I rode with a buddy from Savannah, GA to Dallas in his with a softtop. That was the most annoying sound for 1500 miles doing about 90mph the whole way.

Back in the 80's, weren't they running small V8's, like a 302 or 305?

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

That sounds horrible, no thanks...

They are okay for utility but not a family ride, bout like riding a horse.

The 304 was an option.

My daughter wanted one. I said I would not co-sign for it.
