My first cousin was fishing with me years ago and was trying to unhook a lure from a stump and his Ray Ban’s fell off his face. Probably the most expensive thing to ever get lost out of any of my rigs. I spent the big money on blown motors, the best I can remember I grenaded about 6 of them in my lifetime.

Had a buddy of mine who had a bad habit of keeping his tackle box ( one of those tall ones) on his front deck of his Skeeter for easy access. He had a bungee system to hold it and it worked - when used. You guessed it - he was coming out of the mouth of Little Caney one day and just as he got to plane , crossed a boat wake. The box flew off and pieces and parts went everywhere. He was the kind of guy who had all the new toys - custom painted baits and spoons. Most of them sunk right to the bottom. He probably had 200 different kinds of hooks in that box. We retrieved the tackle box but none of the contents. I really , really, really wanted to say "I told you so" , but he was so upset that I just sat and smiled a bit.

I donated a new Curado DC mounted on a G Loomis rod today to the bowels of Lake Lewisville. It makes me feel a little better knowing there are 3 pages of similar instances.....SMH

loomis GLX with a shimano vanford went off the side of the boat over like 100ft of water during 3 foot white caps. Only thing of value I've ever lost on the boat but damn it hurt. I don't feel as bad about it after reading some of these posts though.

I just added to my long list of items in Davie Jones locker. Went to Ray Bob Saturday. After much struggle in the fog, I finally landed a fish and decided to send a picture to my kiddo. The fish flopped, hit my phone and both went into the lake. The fish was caught on a KVD 1.5 Sexy Shad in some Cedars.

Just last weekend while prefishing Lewisville for the NTX HS tournament my 15 year old son left his inflatable life jacket unsecured in the boat and it is somewhere along Sam Rayburn Tollway. I asked him when we realized it was missing if he learned a lesson. What do you think he asked me with when he found out I lost over $500 worth of rod/reel? Yep, I'm raising a smart aleck. lol.

This probably does not qualify, but have you ever pulled out a new spinner bait trim the skirt, change the blade, sharpen the hook, put trailer on, get everything just right. Pitch the bait in the water then realize you have not tied on yet.

Was chewing jerky that morning heard a crack didn’t think about it. We went to to the phone store after. A crown broke off. Fell out of my mouth. New phone and bridge. $ 4300.00 trip

I was throwing a C-Rig , doing well --- needed to make an extra long cast when the worm caught the line on another set-up and flipped in in the water . I immediately set up a weight with 4 treble hooks and managed to fish it out . Took about an hour and I pulled in every branch , weed etc..... but eventually got it

Pretty cool topic. I have lost many things over time in lakes all over Texas But my Dad takes the cake.. After reading all post i was surprized of how many Maui Jims was lost. So leads me to not the most exspensive thing my dad has lost which is a 1999 Yamaha 200 V max (buck bay). But how he and his partner Both won matching pair of Maui Jims Valued @ 400 $ a piece on Lake Quachita in a champions owners tournament in the late 90s or early 00s cant remember. Those two dudes loved those Sunglasses, My dad was the first to lose his when me and him were fishing a Bass N Bucks Tournament on Toledo Bend. From bridge opening of the pendleton to boat ramp he was sick his partner always messed with him about how he still had his several months later karma is tough, his partner lost his about 100 yards from where my dad lost his. Moral of story is two dudes won glasses in Arkanasas and lost them both in Texas in the same place a year later @ the pendleton bridge Toledo bend.

Or even better, had all the trailers on an a-rig and set it down just enough to watch the action and drop the damn thing
