I was having this conversation with a fellow club member and we were taking about the most expensive thing that has been dropped in the lake and not recoverable.
I recently dropped an iPhone 12 Pro in the lake. No AppleCare, no insurance, just $1,200 down the toilet.
What's the most expensive thing you've dropped that is still on the bottom of the lake you fish?

My cousin lost his Rolex while water skiing (too much money or not enough sense). My other cousin lost his Aggies Ring lipping a fish.

Lucky for me I think the most expensive thing I've plunked over the side is a nice pair of pliers/scissors.

Damn....my $400 drone kamikaze diving into the lake feels like its not such a biggie when you mention an iPhone! Still sucked seeing that big white $400 blob fade away into the depths Lucky for me I think the most expensive thing I've plunked over the side is a nice pair of pliers/scissors. That still ruins the day cuz then you gotta look for the emergency/back up pliers buried under everything in your boat! LOL

Reason number 1 why I like to keep two pairs of pliers and two pairs of scissors in the boat at all times! Lucky for me I think the most expensive thing I've plunked over the side is a nice pair of pliers/scissors.

I kicked a Falcon Cara with a Team Lews Pro off the deck. I caught a 12” bass and it shook off the hook and was flipping everywhere. I was having a bad day and decided to take it out on the fish. I went to kick it off my boat and kicked the combo right off the deep end. Then had to bend over and pick the damn fish anyways.
Lost an iPhone prefishing a bass open. Jason Christie was loading up next to me on the ramp. I slipped on the algae ratcheting up my boat and chunked my iPhone as I fell. Insult to injury was I still had my auto pfd on. It blew open. Christie came running over to help, then when I assured him I was ok, he laughed for the next four days every time he saw me. Even at the local tackle shop. He asked me for my phone number. Hahaha.

22' carolina rigging on lake bastrop. 20+ yrs ago. it never happened before, but i kicked a stack of rods over the side while laying down to land a 5lb bass. i heard a weird sound, turned around, and saw a rod tip go under. two shimano sf(golds) and one shimano metanium scorpion(japan ebay order). all star and castaway rods. i immediately dropped a buoy, and already had one out on the drop in 15', so i figured i had a chance.. i took off some #2 trebles from a spook, rigged 'something' up w/a 1oz weight. gave up a few hrs later. it was well past dark, and i didn't hook squat.
