Finally took a few hours to go fishing & went to the Lewisville Barge. First time in months, as I haven't gone fishing since before I got the WuFlu. Still using the portable oxygen when I'm out & about. Probably could've taken it off while just sitting there, but it would've been embarrassing to pass out & flop into the water.

As I've noted before, the inside of the barge is ridiculously loud what with the TV blaring & various equipment running. As it turns out, earplugs help.

Got this one on corn. Not terribly big, but gave a good fight on 6lb test. Also caught some decent size channel cats and quite a few sunfish. Nice to know that I haven't forgotten how to do the important things.

Huh. Might be my last fish at the barge unless they reopen.

That is a shame about the barge. I fished there many a time with my parents and caught a lot of carp and buffalo.

I live in the DFW area and recently found out about the barge closing. It was my main fishing spot! I happened to run into a barge employee a couple of weeks ago and he said they have to make repairs and updates to become compliant with safety codes and regulations in several areas, like electricity, structure, flotation system, etc. They are working on the required renovations but no idea how long it will take or when it will reopen. Hopefully it will only be closed a few months.
