Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps are an East Texas staple, but how much do you really know about this legendary bait. In my latest video, Wes Higgins, The President of Bill Lewis Lures, discusses the history of their lipless crankbaits as well as the lore behind some of their most popular colors such as Rayburn Red, Brown Eye and the Zombie.

That’s cool! I knew they made a lot of colors! I have several from the 80’s that are no longer available. I didn’t know they would make them for you. Too cool! Great lures!

Cool video- Thanks Clark!! So many colors to choose from! I like that you can order up some of the older ones as well- may look into that as I had some as a kid that worked well but sure can't find em anymore.

I spoke to someone there years ago to suggest a color pattern. They told me that don't accept people's suggestions. True story.

But it sounds like From the video they are really trying to be there for the customers. In the world we live in … that would be an awesome thing!

I can not speak on behalf of Bill Lewis especially on something that happened to you in the past, but I seriously doubt the President/CEO of that company would have specifically spoken about it when I was interviewing him if it was not an option. He was the one that even brought it up.

All I can say is I called, spoke to a female, told her what I wanted to suggest and she said "we don't take suggestions." It was very puzzling.

It seems like Bill Lewis is now trying to pick up some of the market they have lost over the years. Maybe give it another shot and and ask them to make you a dozen baits in the color you want. Then come back on here and tell us what they said.
