In the good old days, back before the libs invented the China flu to convert ‘Murica to socialism, you could hire folks to clean up acorns. I offered my kids a penny a piece for every acorn they picked up, but they wouldn't go for it. Gonna have to up my game. When my oldest grandson was 5 or 6, I told him I would give him $5 for each trashbag of leaves he raked up. I left on Saturday morning to help someone and when I came back that afternoon, unbeknownst to me, my wife had helped him. My grandson was overjoyed to show me the.............18 bags along the back fence. That endeavor cost me $90 as my wife just grinned at me. He is quite the business man. hahahahaha. He'll get his drivers license this coming Feb.

I knew a dude who would rake up acorns on the sfa campus and spread them out where he hunted. Said it worked great. If you would give me his name, he can have a zillion of them.

I have tried it all. Have a huge live oak in my front yard. We put down 2 tarps and once a week gather them up and use a snow shovel to put them in bags. This is horrible having tarps in my yard so we just use shovels and heavy duty rakes.
The roller type nut pickers work if you do not have a lot of grass or landscaping and nice flat ground but for a big mature tree it is like trying to stop Ezekiel Elliot with a defensive line made up of toddlers. The sheer volume of acorns from a mature live oak tree is mind boggling.

Problem with your solution, It will crack and mulch them. There is a blade that will chop them up. and that is a problem, why?

3 very large live oaks in my front yard, acorns galore every year, I usually just sweep the sidewalk a couple of times a season and leave the ones in the yard
