I just purchased a Polar Kraft TX 195 from Fun and Sun. I am very impressed with the performance and fishability of this boat. Fuel economy is much better with a 150HP versus a 250.
And in todays world that's a big deal. This boat is much easier to tow versus the Legend 211 that I had. Also the fact that I was able to upgrade all the electronics, trolling motor, and Raptors was a big bonus. Get you a good size aluminum boat. Rig it how you want it and don't look back!

Totally agree.....i looked for a quality used tracker tournament V18 (boat Clunn used in The Classic....Clunn/JM developed it) or a Fisher Pro Hawk 180....which is virtually the same boat as the V18 was developed from it. I found a good quality 180 (and a dual axle to renovate) and began my project. It's been a fun project to renovate to exactly what I wanted....and I've saved $30k+ vs a comparable size/equipped boat by going this route. It's plenty fast enough for the trashy h20 I fish and plenty stable.

Funny how people with tin rigs are always trying to justify their purchase and compare it to a glass boat.

kind of a dickhead thing to say. I have had multiple glass boats , could have any glass boat with any equipment that I want but prefer my beat up aluminum boat. I don't feel the need to justify anything.

Not knocking them as they have their place. But to compare to a glass rig and say it handles rough water just as well is a stretch at best. I've been in enough of them to know better.

In the smaller 19 and down it's for sure possible although wetter, also I got passed in a Basscat Jaguar by a crazy man in a yellow X21 on Palestine once in really rough conditions.

Had the pleasure many years ago to ride in a very light loaded X21 with a flashed SHO. No denying it was fast.

A Lund will handle better than any glass boat, but not as dry or as fast.

I saw a bunch of guys say they handle rough water just “fine.” I didn’t see anyone say they handle rough water just as “well.” Did I miss it?

Edit: the post above mine is the only one I saw, but Lunds aren’t bass boats.

I'll stand by my comment but would also like to include that Lund does in fact have a bass boat line.

The 2075 pro v bass is a sweet boat, their ips 2 hull is the best big water hull I have ever been in.

This. I personally have the funds to buy any boat I want but enjoy my Xpress X19. Don’t feel the need to justify to anyone how I choose to spend my money, just trying to share my experiences with the OP.

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

Its sorta' funny.... SOME of the glass boat guys have such a hard time accepting that there just might be a "tin" boat that's as good as a "plastic" one. Apparently a couple of guys in this thread have ridden in EEEEEVERY Al bass boat on the market today and that's ever been produced. At least it sure seems that way by their comments.

"Lund doesn't make a bass boat?" That would be news to Lund and the guys running em' while making a living BASS fishing.

Btw, why??? Is it because the hull is a deep V? Is it because they are made up N? Is it because they made their mark building boats that are capable of running the roughest fresh water that IS "runable?"....the Great Lakes. H20 that might well destroy a fiberglass boat. Is it because they're Al? I'm honestly very curious......

Interestingly, I've been fortunate to get to know one of the best bass fisherman of all time a bit....a hall of famer. He regaled me with a story one evening, while knocking out a bunch of fried crappie, about him destroying his fiberglass tournament bass boat. He was trying to get back to the weigh in at a tournament on one of the Great Lakes and the top cap separated.

I also know a highly regarded marine dealer of almost 5 decades. They sell very high quality fiberglass bass boats and he's run em.....he runs an X21. I'd assume he would know as much about bass boats as just about anyone.

Just run what fits your budget and your mission. My mission is much better suited for aluminum....trashy, stumpy, junky shallow lakes. Having blown a hole in my father's glass boat many years ago, due to hitting a floater, I decided to avoid glass. I don't fish tournaments so blazing speed isn't on my list, nor is running 5' rollers. I have modified my lil' 18 footer so that it fishes way, way bigger.....front casting deck is over 9' long and it's wider at the pedestal than a lot of 20'/21' glass boats (via Ken Smith's calculations)...plenty of room. Plenty of storage....Ultrex....etc. It's also a deep V and was designed for tournament bass fishing.

However, I totally get why somebody might go another way and respect their choice. It's not my business....live and let live in my view.

.........Oooooorrrrr.....

Maybe glass rig owners are having a tough time accepting that SOME Al rigs might have caught up with many of their beloved gold plated and diamond encrusted glass rigs. And, as glass has always been considered the best and finest option, the gold standard, it's inevitable that the glass vs tin is the appropriate comparison. Also, any comparison of a high end Al to glass brings out some glass owners to stomp and scoff at the "insult" regarding the comparison.

It's funny, I don't see very many glass threads where tin owners interject themselves and are commenting on their rigs.

However, both here and on BBC, it seems to be Ithe other way around.... in my opinion anyway. Start a thread about a high end Al boat and it's almost inevitable that a few glass owners will jump in and denigrate the boat in question and/or Al boats in general....all in a thread started regarding an Al rig......

Don't get me wrong, I think the finest bass boat currently manufactured is a Basscat. Glass boats, many of them anyway, are most probably the best option for most missions....more comfortable, driest, etc, but, it's certainly not the 100% lock that it was in the past.
