Got the morning to fish Belton with my buddy. Got a surprise guest who joined for about an hour - my wife called and said she's driving to the dock so I raced over and picked her up and she caught her first white bass! We picked up about twenty five fish in about thirty ft of water using slabs and MAL. It was slower than last time, I felt the fish would move out pretty quickly after finding a school and I spent a lot of time looking for fish. Left when the trolling motor ran out of juice Also, can any of you all tell me if this is abnormal? Just bought an interstate deep cycle marine battery for the trolling motor. Kept it on my black and decker trickle charger for 24 hours and got only a 3/4 charge and it died after about five hours of use mostly on spotlock in about ten mph winds. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/10/full-117656-115500-pxl_20211024_160901937.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/10/full-117656-115501-pxl_20211024_1608272752.jpg)

DocOc, I've been following your progress, as well as the sound advice Belton Bill has been giving you. I appreciate you using the MAL Lures and letting others know of your success with them.
I wanted to take on the topic of your trolling motor. First, what voltage is it (12, 24, 36)? Next, what length is your boat? You mentioned a "trickle charge", but what is the maximum amperage your charger is rated for? How is the charger connected to your battery(s), i.e. alligator clips, ring terminals, etc. Finally, how long of a run of wire stretches from your TM to your battery, and what gauge of wire has been used?
Is the battery a "Group 31" sized battery, or something smaller. Is the battery a wet-cell lead/acid battery that has pop-off tops to allow water to be added?
Once I hear back on these questions, we can possibly zoom on on a problem.
What you experienced does not sound normal.
