Just priced the extended warranty for my Mercury 250 Four Stroke - $4,000 for Platinum for 5 years.
What y’all think - is it worth it ?

so I believe you'll have 8 years total? For sure worth it for a 2 stroke, mine blew and covered with new parts, not remanufactured PLUS if you sell it later, it's transferable and increases you're resale. I figure a 4 stroke is at least that much if not more. Platinum also covers electrical issues as well, power packs, etc.. not sure on fuel injector's etc. If it blows without warranty a 2 stroke is at least $6k (reman parts?). Also, what about a 3 year platinum for a total of 6 years. I'm sure it's $3k or less.

I would get the warranty. It’s better then a 7500 dollar out of pocket lower unit when a tooth breaks off the gears. I have a customer on his 3rd lower already

if your sitting there with $4k in your hand, go open a bank account, and dump it in there...then dump a $20 here and $20 there into the account, never touch it, let it grow... then IF something happens you got the cash to foot most, if not all of the repairs, and if nothing ever happens you got a nice nut squirreled away to put down on a new boat later...
