The old Texas World Speedway outside Collage Station. Used to race SCCA on the road course in the late 90’s. Popped a tire a time or two racing. Not near as scary on the track as on the freeway.
Thanks, Billy

In Shreveport for a bassmaster open, I was driving on the freeway on a bridge that was a big left turn in my ford fusion. I ran over a ratchet strap and the front right tire blew and I felt like a NASCAR driver trying to keep it from going straight into the guardrail. The shoulders were very small and I am lucky I didn't get hit trying to put the spare on.

I hit a curb and blew out both front tires, I was highly distracted and luckily I didnt need stitches and she didnt need dental work. It was a miracle I made it to 21.

Coming home from fishing Amistad about midnight. Cruise control set at 60mph. Border patrol gets behind me and follows me for 7 miles 1 car length away then all of a sudden wife says "whats that on the side of the road"? Turns out it's another border patrol agent throwing a spike strip. Got both front tires ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/10/full-60017-113515-capture_2021_10_06_20_50_38.png) Gotta be more to this story.

I'm mad you made this thread cause I can't not post...
I've never had a blowout. At least not one that involved a tire.
Now I'm gonna die driving to work tomorrow, thanks OP! Lol

Early 1990’s, I had a set of draw works on the 5 axle trailer, and the left steer tire on the Paystar blew out. It got western for a bit, I went into the ditch for 75 yards or so before I could get it under control. That truck would run 58 MPH wide open with both sticks on the dash, but it felt like 100 mph when it went off the road.

Coming back from an all day, half night trip to Lake Athens. About 3 a.m. northbound in Dallas around Reunion one of the boat trailer springs broke and fender blew out trailer tire. Drug / limped off to the service road at Continental and waited for wrecker service for two hours right across from the Lew Sterrett Dallas County Jail. Some interesting folks on walkabout in that area. We had a fillet knife, seat pedestal pole, and a paddle for protection - thankfully no issues.

1:30am In a Jeep, I'd never changed a tire on. I'm an old guy. I don't do tire changes.... It isn't the blow-out, that was so bad.. At about 70mph. (left rear) But good grief, right at the bottom of Ranger Hill. And it, was under construction. I couldn't go up. And I couldn't back down. And I couldn't cross over. (concrete Barriers, on both sides). 18 wheelers at 80, trying to climb that hill. And they ain't stopping, for no dude in a jeep... So it was flashers, and 10mph, for the next six miles, to the truck stop.. When I got there, and pulled in.. All I had left, was the wheel. And it was egg shaped.... It took me three beers, and an hour to read the manual, on how to change a tire, on a Jeep. (especially, if your shaking, like labratory rabbit) But to be honest, 20 minutes of that.. Was to remove, the seat covers, from my butt crack....

Had some chorizo/egg tacos for breakfast before going fishing. Had to dump out my bait bucket and have a seat. Boatload of girls came running by and there was no stopping me. Not sure if they knew what I was doing, but I was relieved.

I don't remember the last flat I had on a truck. I always run good AT or MT tires. I failed to check the dates on my boat trailer tires. The tread and sidewalls looked good. I got to Texoma one morning and buddy gets out and saws hey you had a blow out. We fished and put spare on for the trip home. A couple of trips later one blew out in the daylight leaving the lake. Made it to Farmersville and looked for a tire shop. Only tire I could find was a used P rated. My buddies gave the guy a 20 and off we went. 3 miles down the road boom that tire blows. I call Discount tire and they had 4 Goodyears. I learned my lesson on trailer tires.

Similar situation as the OP. Going 80 down 121 am Rayburn in McKinney on 4 new tires. Left front shatters and I managed to make it over to the shoulder without any damage. Changing a tire on that freeway is a nightmare. No one ever moves over to give you room to work. Praying the whole time you don't get splattered on the pavement.

Going zero miles per hour, but perched up on top of one of Dad’s fuel delivery trucks and filling the truck compartments with gasoline. Fumes were strong and I was a bit worried about that. And right then one of the dually truck tires right below me just blew. Ka Boom! I almost fainted.
