I use the Hog Farmer with the swarming hornet ones but they must have the Colorado blades to help give more thump and action. Usually I don't use alpo its to hard to keep on the hooks I use hot dogs and sometimes it matters if they are ball park hot dogs or not. Also if you take a pocket knife and thin out the tail end of the hot dog and then cut a small notch in them like the zoom ultra vibe worms have it makes the hot dog swim more like bait fish and seems to work better. My Great Grandmother also used to swear by spitting a little garrets snuff spit on them really helped as well. I also like to spray some chartreuse dip in glo on the tail. make sure you use the shad scent though because the bass don't like the crawfish flavor on the ball park weiners but they will sometimes eat it anyway if you have them really fired up. If you use the bar s hot dogs they need to be boiled first as the bass want them as free from preservatives as you can get. If you can't boil them then use the orange crawfish flavored dip n glo spray and you may catch the smaller ones needed to fill out your limit. Hope this helps. I'm not sure that this is quite legal in derbies but they do have an exemption for the one old guy who still has a bottle of the uncle josh pork rinds so if you use pork weiners you should be ok. Also they only polygraph the winner so don't sweat it on this pattern you probably wont have to worry about winning.
