I feel like ive been seeing a lot of fish schooling in the mouth of meadow mere and in twin coves. I cant tell exactly what kind of fish these are. my guess is sandies but I have seen some orange looking fish mixed in. are these a carp type fish? I'm mainly a largemouth or smallmouth guy and they have been stumping me lately.
I have been seeing drum, and gar rolling on the surface allot at first light. During the day, it could be gar, drum, or bass with them. I fished last monday but mainly for bass, plenty of sandbass seen but I didn't fish for them. Grapevine point was really thick just to the right of the big concrete structure. But it all depends on the bait, it you saw schooling it was most likely sandies working bait. Scotts landing is still holding allot of bait, and large schools of gizzard shad seen near dove ramp.. Bass must be full, because they have lock jaw.
Looking forward to these cooler nights to bring down the water temps.
Yes, all ramps are open, but I would stay away from McPherson. Theft occured this week in the 3am timeframe, 4 wheels/tires removed from a trailer. They popped the buddy bearing caps, removed the hub nut and pulled hub/wheels off the trailer.. They also removed the spare.. Grapevine police announced they busted a prostitution ring out of that ramp as well, which was suprising. I use Dove, Meadomere, and farris primarily but Katy woods is also available.. I did notice Grapevine point ramp was opened in the last month as well.
Hi folks, it’s been a long while since I’ve posted here. But Prosise came by my home this evening and he suggested I do so. We have communicated several times over the last few years but this evening was the first time I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with him in person. I have a 1986 16 foot Skeeter F-80 bass boat with a 70 hp. Yamaha outboard for sale. Vessel belonged to my brother, who has recently passed away. I hauled it down to the great state of Texas on Wednesday to sell it so my 84 year old Mom didn’t have to do it. Boat is clean, motor runs great. I checked it out a bit for half a day in MO while I was there. Water pump was pumping, but weak, so I installed a new impeller. No problems now. One livewell pump was cracked, so I installed a new one. New starting battery, too. I’ll be cleaning it up and checking out trolling motor, electronics, etc. tomorrow. It’s a nice little rig. Won’t blast down the lake at 70 mph, but she scoots along pretty well. I’d like to get $3600 for it, but price is negotiable. Boat is in Roanoke. Please text me at (817)846-0136 with a question or comment if you’d like to have a look at it.
For these times, someone starting out would be set. I have seen some decked out kayaks in this range of $... For a first boat on a budget this is perfect.

See prev post..
I pretty much have the exact same boat just a few years newer very good value for someone with no boat and wants to avoid any monthly payments. I bought mine in 1994 used really have not had too many problems Mariner 75hp still runs good. IMO you don’t need an $80k bass boat to fish GV.
Kitchen Pass.. Launched at 5:45am and pulled out at 7:30pm. Great day out on the lake. Fished for the green fish and I know what they look like once again. Bite was strong today, and I had fun fishing a worm. About 2pm i eased out east near the Island in the deeper water. Turned on the Bluetooth speaker and let it rip.. Turned on the Redneck thumper, I had a good jam session. Sat in one place and caught fish for a long time, the faster the beat the better I did.. And Yes thumpers work, my next project is a splasher.. Caught about a 75ish fish, and an easy limit of 13-14'ish fish working the big spoon on the bottom. The fish were on the bottom, and just of the break. They would follow the bait, and eventually crush it when they had the chance. I stayed out there until about 5:30pm and then eased back toward the ramp and picked up a few more decent bass on the main point at the ramp in deeper water. For some reason it was a light day on the boaters, and I was planning on coming home before lunch. The traffic stayed light, so I kept fishing.
Prosise-I was out on Saturday and also noticed how few boats were on the water. It was really nice not having the boats cut between me and the Murrell shoreline. That said, we caught them good on Murrell point but on the shallow end this time. And they were pushing the shad into that small cove with the small marina at the back. (not sure if there is name for this cove) They were working from the mouth of that cove to the two no-wake buoy's. Mix of big and small fish. Once we got tired of that school, we went towards Rockledge and ran into another nice school up close to the bank about 1/4 mile short (West) of the rock cliffs. 1/4oz kastmaster spoon with the white bucktail worked better than a tail spinner and regular slab.
Marlin, If you are free this week in the evening(Thursday), I can pick you up at the Rockin S bar/rest.and bring an Ice Chest maybe we can help on your freezer issue.
Hey JWC, any chance you were at RockinS this last Saturday late morning/early afternoon? I saw a very nice/clean NauticStar Bay boat docked at the restaurant but no poles were out. Figured if it was you there would be at least a rod (or two) in the holders. I keep my boat in the Twin Coves Marina and was out most of Saturday.
No it wasn't me. I wished it was, but the boss had me at home doing a garage sale and didn't get a chance to get away, plus it sucked the life out of me.
Poles will be out 24/7 on my boat. Haha! Apparently I have been told I have a problem.
